What can you do? Lose 50 or get out?

Need to do something because he's not gonna get it done at 360-375. Wasted scholarship.

Maybe he's lost a little weight, then. That sounds hopeful.

It’s amazing how conditioned you can actually get with 2 weeks of hard work. Granted, he’s limited with his weight.

Needs to be on a bike then - one of those variable resistance kind. Great workout. No strain on the joints. Really good for increasing stamina and burning calories.

They might also try swimming.

And your a freakn moron too. It was the kids first action of the year against one of the better interior OLs in the conference of not the best. No one moved him and constantly had two or more people blocking him. If he loses just 20 to 30 pounds which can happen in 2 months if done properly, he would then be strong, heavy and quick.

I'll say this. It the kid ever has a light turned on he'll be the best NT in the country, maybe the best DLman in the country. He has that type of talent. He could take on a double team and still bring a RB, any RB to the ground with one arm. Once this guy figures it out and matures, he's going to be dangerous. The coaches need to motivate this young man. He needs some help obviously. Need to pump some confidence into him. He's entirely too good to waste his own time.

I hope he's listening man. A pool would help him but he needs to call Gilmore up and get some advice from him. Glen Logan as well! Hang out with those two guys and copy what they do bc it worked. Gotta be hungry in this league!!

That's right. Our nose plays a 2 gap technique head-up on the center. His job is to make them use both the center and a guard to move him which frees up a linebacker to make the tackle. LSU's down line men all play mostly the 2 gap technique. Which is why LSU has controlled the line and stopped the run with mostly 5 players. There's been times they got beat, but for the most part they've been stopping the run with 5 players. At least between the tackles they've controlled the line with 5 players. By design the linebackers are supposed to make tackles after the DLmen consume the blockers. Our linebackers will have to have a very good game to beat Sabama. But Aranda is going to have to put some pressure on Tua without letting him extend plays with his feet. IMHO, I think this game will test Aranda's ability more than any other game he's coached at LSU. When he does come in after the half, I believe Devin White will be a monster.

Beside the point of Shelvin not being in shape, I think there are a lot of people on this board that don’t know what a nose guard’s job is. Not saying the verdict wouldn’t be the same but at least you could evaluate with proper expectations of the position.

He's the NT in a 3 man front. His job is not penetration or making tackles. He's a space eater.

I'm amazed how many folks just don't get this.

a nose won’t get much penetration. And in zone blocking schemes you want his arse planted right there
