It's 4.5 hours for me. I didn't request Mud Bowl tix in hopes we would wind up in the Cotton. Can't wait to start hearing Aggie Jokes again.

Poeple keep talking about the field last year. Yes it was horrible but they put turf in so it will not be a mudbowl!! I think its in our best interest to play a higher rank team!! You rantards will shite a brick if lsu plays a close game against aTm and bama blows out sparty then jumps us in ths standings!!!! So why not want to beat the shite out of a top ten team and end up top 5!!!!

because Alabama cant jump us? plus half of the top 10 will lose so we'll be top 10, which is a good season IMO

I don’t understand what all the fuss about the cotton bowl

Playing in the Cotton Bowl would be good exposure for LSU in an area (DFW) that LSU recruit heavily!!!

Also, I think I heard that LSU opens the season next year playing a pretty tough Oregon Ducks team in the same Texas Stadium where the Cotton Bowl is played.
It would be good for the Tigers to get a feel for the new Stadium by waxing that TX Aggie arse in the last game of the 2010 season. That might give us a bit of an advantage in the 2011 season opener against the Ducks, in a game that could mean everything in 2011…

We should go capital one play a tougher team higher ranked team!!

Plus Mich. St. is not a push over team, not that LSU couldn’t take care of business against State; I just think it would be easier for the Tigers to put it on A&M.

To me, unless we would have beaten Arky and been BCS Bowlin, a win is a win in a New Years day Bowl Game. I understand about wanting to play the highest quality opponent and all, but a win in the Capital One is not going to make the players feel any better than a win in the Cotton Bowl, or the greater LSU fan base for that matter.

We need to go into 2011 with momentum; LSU has a legitimate shot next season at an SEC Championship and perhaps more; if they can show up to play Arkansas at the end of the season!!!

I want Cotton over Capital!

The deal is already done anyway! It's the Cotton Bowl, watch and see!!!

Are you telling me that a team that plays in the Cap 1 and a team that plays in the Gator or Music City will share the same revenue??? I'll betcha the team that plays in the Cap 1 walks away with more money.

Man you are fricking dense. Those aren't the choices. The choices are Cotton and Cap 1. The school gets the same amount for playing in either bowl, regardless what the bowl pays. FOR THOSE TWO BOWLS.

So no, no one told you that a team in the Cap 1 and a team that plays in the Gator or Music City will share the same revenue.

I am not fricking dense (your words). I was just making a comparison after many people claim that all sec schools will share the exact same revenue which is not the case. I have also said the facility in Dallas is superb to Orlando. With our record, and our ranking LSU should be going to, under the current bowl scenario, the Cap 1 Bowl. We are being snubbed by the Cap 1 committee. This will be the first time that the Cap 1 bypasses the higher ranked team.

As it may not matter to those in this thread, but the City of Orlando put in field turf after that Mud hole game last year. That will at least make the field a little more attractive...

Man that will be a great improvement. Last year was a terrible mud bowl. Neither team had a chance to see how good they were.

You're blind if you can't at least see the reasons why many of us want Cotton this year vs Cap1. You don't necessarily have to agree, but any reasonable person can at least acknowledge there are certainly legitimate reasons why we prefer Cotton this year.

You're acting like the Cotton is some shitty bowl. The Cotton and Cap1 are for all practical intents and purposes the same tier bowl game... Great top-tier SEC bowl game, great payout, great exposure, #2 team in standings of opposing conference in both games, no championship at stake.

FWIW, a poll of Alabama fans asking whether they prefered the Cap1 or Cotton... Cotton won the poll.

LSU vs Michigan State would have much more a national feel than a regional battle between LSU & A&M. More exposure, bigger tv audience. Who gives a rats butt about Texas A&M outside of Texas? Nobody. I don't have a single friend that ever talks about Texas A&M like it's any kind of program, period. I think it would be a minimally watched bowl game.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The field has been replaced. Bigger games? Not too many top ten matchups outside the BCS games. Anyway, if you're concerned about a "big" game, why choose an opponent ranked #19 in a game that holds little or no national interest over an intriguing SEC/Big 10 matchup with a one loss Mich st or Ohio st?

OR...they can have a stand alone game, start at 7 pm, play in a cathedral, on network TV, and lead that network into the wild card round of the NFl Playoffs.

Unfortunately, you forgot to mention the opponent: #19 ranked A&M. A classic no win situation for LSU.

Agreed. Texas A&M has no national following, period. Their fans and alumni are just plain weird. LSU has very little to gain by playing the 19th ranked team that no one cares about. LSU/MSU would generate a lot more national interest and as you said, it's a matchup of top 10 BCS teams. A win against MSU would be a better springboard for LSU to enter next season.

Better opponent

Better stadium

Better for recruiting

And the most important IMO is that it is the only game played that day. The cap 1 has 3 bowl games played at the same time.

And we get to play in the stadium that we have to open with next year
