This is LSU and we don't have time to have a guy start only with the hopes of getting better to be an everyday player. The roster next year does not warrant him a starting job. No loss if he leaves.

Our fans suck so much dick lmao

You'll be glad he's here if Josh Smith can't play SS, for whatever reason, in 2019.

Yeah, but that's subjective. What was the competition he was facing? As an example, Turang's numbers this year were .352, 5 hr's, 21 rbi's.
I'm always hesitant to say "who's good, who's not" based upon high school numbers.
Hughes competed here freshman year, was solid in field, in top conference in country and we hope can continue to develop and improve offensively.
As any knowledgable college coach will tell you, he has "upside".
Don't misunderstand, I'm not claiming he's the "be all, end all", but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he develops this year before writing him off.

Robertson had no gap power and made really weak contact in general his freshman year...much in the vein of Hughes.
Robertson credited Cannizzaro for re-tooling his swing and saving his collegiate career.
Quite a few fans believed Kramer to be a bust.

His glove is incredible, but not enough to mask his offense.
But his arm is below average for SEC shortstop. Needs to improve to be in top 3-4 SEC SS.

Can't speak to Hughs' arm strength except that I never noticed him missing plays because of it. I probably watched about 15 or so games he played including SEC and NCAA tournies. He's an all-around solid SS. His bat...well that definitely needs improvement.
But I will say that all the craziness about him and Slaughter as weak links were kind of overblown. Moo State's starting 3B and SS were hitting 259 and 207 respectively as of Friday nights game vs Vandy. And they're in a super. Just saying you can ovrercome some weaknesses if your roster is strong overall in all 3 phases. This year LSU lacked that overall strength - coupled with some big injuries to key pitchers - thus probably ended up where they should have been.
It looks like next years roster should be back to what LSU is used too. If so nothing short of a super and/or national seed would be a dissapointment.

Pitching and defense should be outstanding in 2019.
Hope you we’re trying to be humorous. I think he was referring to Austin

Sac bunts/hits don’t count towards his average, argument invalid
That's fine, but it was a question. How many did he have this year?

If he can’t hit, he will not play.
If history is a teacher then we know CPM wants solid defense up the middle. We all want more offense out of Huges but his lack of hitting won't necessarily keep him off the field.
Would like to see him make an Andrew Stevenson like turnaround from one year to the next.
