Same as Brown at Texas. A good coach who led us through some of our best years but the game passed him by. I don't hate Les he just needs to realize it's time to pass the torch.

The most successful coach in lsu history with the facts to back it up. He has as many top 5 finishes as Saban, Mac, and Dietzel combined. Anyone that thinks otherwise is just wrong.
He has the 7th best win %in sec history and he achieved that win % during the most dominant era of sec football ever.
With that said its time to move on. A decade at a program is something 99.9 % of cfb coaches cant claim.
ETA: down vote all you want. Facts prove what i said and no one cares about the opinions of the board that gave us Trindon Holiday at DE.

And still a shitty coach that doesn't adapt.

A great recruiter, a family man. A great representative of LSU in the community off the field. Took up for his players. Inherited a program at its apex.
Made a name for himself with some gutsy gambles early in his career, but unfortunately got complacent after a holy-shite championship run in '07....and proceeded to slowly play not to lose on offense because he could rely on a strong defense to keep a respectable record every year & remain employed.
Fatal flaw: famously stubborn, unwilling to adapt to a modern college football style of play even though other top programs did. Whether it was out of arrogance, laziness, or incompetence, we will never know.
(Twilight of career):
Gives the middle finger to the fanbase as a whole on TV, despite making millions of dollars a year for over a decade.
Possibly feels like he should be immune from criticism, even when warranted and obvious to the casual college football fan in America

You cant be a shitty coach amd have the best tenure ever at a top 10 alltime program. God i hate our ignorant and entitled fan base.

This is such utter bullshite. He inherited a 3 loss program with 1 top 5 finish in over 2 decades. Please explain how that is at its apex? This program wasnt at its apex until 2007.
You do realize that our last 5 years under miles have a better win loss record than Saban's tenure at lsu, right? Would you say lsu is at its apex now?

Dont worry they hate you as well, just make sure when Miles hits the bricks that you go with him.

When everyone thought Les was going to be fired after the Texas A&M game last season, when the game was over, his players hoisted him up on their shoulders and carried him off the field to a standing ovation from the LSU faithful. That tells you how, despite the constant frustration and questions, we still love Coach Miles and all he's done for LSU football.
This is a good point that I didn't consider too carefully. And I was one of those people giving the standing O.
The variety of answers yall has given have convinced me that the answer to this question, even with the benefit of hindsight, will always be "?"
I honestly think that Les' tenure here will always be sort of an enigma when it comes to being defined for posterity. Anyone who thinks they have him totally figured out is fooling themselves, imo.

Of course you can. Look at what's happening currently. He gets all this talent yet fails to take advantage of it by adapting to a more dynamic offense. That's shitty coaching. Spurrier was a great coach, the game passed him by and he admitted it and stepped down.
The last two of the old guard in the sec power smash mouth teams were LSU and Alabama. One of those teams adapted to today's game.

as a doddering old fool who was once a good coach as LSU but overstayed his welcome.

Ive repeatedly said i want miles gone little guy. That doesnt change the immense success he has had here. Im sorry facts prove your opinion is ignorant but hey youre always ignorant. You literally have never given one opinion that isnt just football ignorant.

That doesnt mean Miles was shitty coach.

We have had dynamic offenses under miles. In no way has he underachieved every year offensively. That just wrong.

And thats what miles is. He isnt a shitty coach. Miles has a higher career sec win % than Spurrier. I responed to you saying miles was shitty coach.

That immense success u refer to has absolutely nothing to do with the state of the program now. If he contiunues on this path, he will NOT be remembered fondly.

What? You call what we've ran for the last 2 years dynamic? When my wife who thinks that a home run is a basketball shot asks why we keep running the same play, I think we have a problem.....

Right...I believe you.
You are a Miles cultist not an LSU fan, when Miles leaves go with him, and dont forget to take your most important stat with you:
Saban owns Miles, Saban broke Miles.
