Did the Traveling Tigers done by the alumni assoc. for the first time. Stayed at the galleria and had police escort bus convoy to game and back. We had an indoor tailgate in the NRG center with band, food, and cash bar, but it was an older crowd and the atmosphere wasn't quite right. So we met up with a parking lot tailgate under the trees and had a blast. Game atmosphere was pretty good, good beer selection, no line problems where I was, big screen was nice when play was on the other end of the field. Overall good experience, would do again.

A shout out to thank the folks at NRG Stadium. We had some special "needs" that they met as promised. In, during, and out they were all smiling and efficient. Not easy to handle 72,000, many of whom are well oiled.

When I got into the truck at vallet sunday morning, I noticed my car charger was gone. Started looking around in the console and the vallet noticed my door handle. He asked if the key tumbler was always loose. Of not, someone punched the tumbler in and got into my truck. Looking for anything else that was missing, I could tell someone had been through my truck.

All said and done some lowlife got my car charger, a small hand towel and a bag of stale peanuts. Hope the POS chokes on em. Anyways, the vallet company is paying for damages and any lost items. Hats off to the hyatt for making it right.

Stayed at the Hyatt downtown, hotel was great except for them kicking everyone out of the lobby at 145 and picking up drinks that we had paid for. It's bs that if you still had booze they took it away from you sitting in the lobby. The waitress told me we could go up to the room and finish our drinks there, but not in the lobby. Lame TX booze laws I guess.

Top Golf Friday night, Springhill suites reliant, set up tailgate at 8 am, great day, great seats for a great game, back to tailgate, "Jump Around" on a loop for 20 minutes for the Wisky fans, fired up the grill for late night burgers, broke down the tailgate at 2 am, then for a WTF moment.......the ice cream man shows up at 2:30...strange ending to an epic day.

All I saw before the game from people in Houston was how awesome the metro line is and how Houston sees crowds like this all the time and how not to stay by the stadium.

Then you talked to logistical idiots. It was EASY to predict that Metro would disappoint. They are the worse, and light rail is not suited for a big time event. Yes, the Super Bowl was held here, but Houston prepared for that for years, and the limos and all other sorts of accomodations made that much different of a PLANNED EVENT. I knew Light Rail would be a disaster for this event. Texans games are much different, as people have their routines-of-familiarity down pat. I kind of hope a lot of the Baton Rouge residents that might have got caught up in it all can now appreciate the out-of-town perspective when traveling to LSU games and leaving early. It can save you hours of frustrating time in traffic to do so, and if not for that, people would not depart early.

We mainly stayed downtown Friday night and early Saturday. Places like Flying Saucer, House of Blues. Then we took the tram to midtown and went to Gaslamp and Little Woodrow's.

You supported all chains and no independent small businesses. Did you stop by walmart on the way out? You're the type that oders coors light on draft, arent you?

We had a blast. Had a lunch meeting in Houston Friday so left BR around 6:45am. Dropped the wife off at Rice Village on the the way to my meeting. Finished up around 2pm and met the wife at Cafe Rabelais in Rice Village for a drink shortly thereafter. Went to St Arnold brewery with some friends around 6:30pm. It was packed but they managed pretty well overall. Picked up my parents once they got in town and ate dinner at Seasons 52 on Westheimer and the food and service was great. Then we met my all of our friends after dinner at the Hay Merchant bar. Had a great time there and there was a good crowd there but the service was good.

Saturday started off at the Capitol Bar and Grille in Midtown that my tailgate krewe rented out. Cool place, had live music and it was catered by a Cajun company. My only complaint was that they seemed to be having issues with their A/C so it actually felt cooler outside than inside the bar. Left for the game at 4:30...got in at 6pm, had field passes with open bar/free food so that was awesome. Had suite and field seats during the game and was probably the best game experience we have ever had. After the game went to Under the Volcano bar on Bissonnet with friends to cap off the W.

I was one of the "logistical idiots" suggesting the light rail. Getting down to the stadium was no problem, but getting back was an absolute nightmare. I was one of the lucky ones and got on early. I live downtown and only use the light rail for the Rodeo and the concerts thereafter. I've never seen anything like Saturday on the rail.

By the way, the bars downtown seem to agree that Tiger Nation killed it this weekend. They were all overwhelmed and weren't ready for the fury that is an LSU Tiger seeking a drink.

Getting to and from the game was awful and for some reason they stop selling beer before the 3rd quarter ended.

Obviously you haven't tried getting out of Tiger Stadium in recent years.

I live in Midtown Houston and got to my parking spot in under 15 minutes. When leaving, we had a tiny bit of traffic in the lot but no more than 8-10 minutes. And then we flew down 610.

I don't like NRG but 80% purple and gold made it fun. Wisconsin people were pretty good, too.

we parked at the fannin st south parking lot south of the stadium ... metro trained it downtown ... There was a tweeked out Mexican guy that was very agitated that I thought I might have to break in half, but nothing happneed...the wives were pretty bothered by it though... Went and had a few drinks at the hay merchant, then some at the saucer...service was great! no problems, metro'd back to the NRG, it was packed but great fun ! had a blast at the game...could get a beer and bathroom during timeouts and no even miss a play ! then hopped on the train heading southbound with minimal wait ! great weekend !

FYI - I'm pretty sure LSU fans broke the Spring Bok. It's been closed since Saturday.

Not really a fan of that city, but midtown is usually a good time. It's definitely a better experience than Uptown Dallas, being that it never seems to be the zoo that Uptown Dallas is.

But the whole weekend was great and fortunately it was capped off by a Tiger win.

Man, I was not prepared for after the game. I've never seen anything like that line to the metrorail, and at one point they weren't letting people exit the gates on that end. People were just scrambling everywhere on that end. We got to the stopped gate and went through this single person gate through the north and ran into more closed gates. People were jumping the fences like crazy, and that's eventually what I had to do. Cabs were telling me 2 hour waits, so walking downtown seemed like my only option. I ended up walking like 7 miles and getting on the metrorail farther down the line. It ended up just stopping at one of the stations for some reason though so I had to get off early.

While I don’t reside in Houston, it amazes me how many local geniuses were advising LSU fans to stay downtown & take the rail to the game. Its not rocket science to figure out that the metro rail was not going to be capable of handing such a crowd after the game. I booked at the Crowne Plaza months ago & glad I ignored suggestions of not staying next to the stadium.

I'm not a big fan of Houston, nor will I probably ever be.

But being anywhere with family, friends and LSU football and it will almost always be a fun and good time.. and this was no exception.
