I don't think anyone is saying bow ties are really cool. Yes, some Ole Miss fans do wear bow ties and so do some LSU fans. I think some of us just wish that people would dress like they are adults and have a little more classy look. Every team in the SEC has bad fans, but in general LSU fans seem to wear some of the most terrible clothing and also have fans making an arse out of themselves.

A bowtie is better any day than any of the following:

Cargo shorts/pants
Graphic t's
Lsu Crocs
jersey (for grown men, kids ok)
anything with toonces...

Just because something is southern, preppy and classy, doesn't mean it's "gay."

The bow tie is so amazing its the only article of clothing that I wear to LSU games. Cargo shorts and T-shirts to a sporting event? Seriously how can people even consider wearing this? Where are we from?

I can't understand why our student section isn't all wearing bow ties, women included.

Cargo shorts, and Jesus forbid GRAPHIC T-Shirts make us look like you're average person from I dunno, Target or something. LSU, Are we from Target? No, we are not, so Step it up please, go out get yourself a bow tie, maybe some pastel purple slacks with little tiger heads on them and do yourself a favor and show up to Saturdays game with some class. Thanks.

not too long ago many LSU fans dressed classy to football games. Definitely not a 50s thing.

I wouldn't wear a tie to a game simply because it's uncomfortable. But I wouldn't dress like a slob to a game simply for the sake of comfort.

Some people don't get that there is a fine line to walk.

With that being said, Louisiana and Florida are very different than the rest of the south. Even regions of Louisiana are very different when it comes to attire. For instance, in Lafayette it's cool to wear cut offs and jorts, tan, and gel your hair up. In New Orleans, it's cool to dress like a hippie and avoid showers at all costs. Baton Rouge, and specifically LSU, are a mix of all cultures and walks of life.

Back in the late 60's, early 70's most people still dressed up for the games. Back in the 80's most of the frats & sororities still dressed up. Now, only a few still dress up. It used to be very much a part of being from the South to dress up when you went to any event, including a football game.

Sometimes, bow ties look good.

Sometimes, people who where bowties are douche bags.

Sometimes, fans boo their quarterback, and are by definition, douche bags.

Judge the person, not the clothes. Unless you are over the age of 12 and wearing crocs, in which case you are a douche bag.
