I've been saying this for a while now. No I don't claim to know more than Mainieri and yes I know we're 26-2, just wondering why PM never tried this order.

1. Laird
2. Rhymes
3. Bregman
4. Katz
5. Ibarra
6. DH McMullen/Chinea
7. Jones
8. Ross
9. Stevenson

I would like to see Rhymes and Katz moved up one spot, could mean another at bat in a game.

Ehhh, I would like to see McMullen a little more in the role. He had some good swings at Mizzou and if he sticks we can keep 2-6 the way it is.

I'll second your opinion, but you need to duck, we are 26-2 and we are about to get bashed for even speaking such blasphemy.

I just want to see McMullen some more. If he can make a home at leadoff that gives us a 1-2 that is speedy as frick which leads to the Bregman-Rhymes-Katz cactus dildo.

You have to have a good bat behind Katz to keep him getting some pitches to hit. Ibarra has been providing good protection up to this point.

if McMullen works out i would still like to see laird in lead off and mcmullen 2 hole...laird cant bunt for shite but is a prototypical lead off drawing a lot of walks, not striking out and being a slap hitter. McMullen has some pop

Preparing to get but...

I'd like to see Breg - Katz - Rhymes. Obviously changing a whole lot right now is foolish though.

You will get blasted for this, but i like what you have put together. What I like is when Ross gets the inevitable last out of an inning at least once a game, you have a leadoff guy in the 9 hole and then a great 2 3 4 5 in Laird Rhymes Bregman and Katz. This order could be good. But for now...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why no love for Foster at DH? Kid is batting .429 and has a .500 obp with 7 runs, a HR and a SB in 16 plate appearances. Did he get injured while I was out of town or something?

LaRussa ain't scared to bat his pitcher 8th.

As for LSU, just keep the order the same, but drop our leadoff to ninth. That bumps Rhymes and Katz up in the order, and gets them to the plate more often. The only person losing an at bat is our "leadoff postion", at which we haven't really settled on who that is anyway.

I agree. Same with Jones; if he can just get on base some way, some how, either walk, error or (sigh) a hit, he can get home.

It is so nice that the threads this year focus on constructive ways to tweak a good team; I don't know why it bothers anyone for posters to speculate. They aren't trashing any coach/players and it's not like PM actually takes our advice.

I have one word for why no one has intentionally walked mason katz this year. It's ibarra even though he would be nice in the 2 hole. I don't care how good a kid is hitting you don't walk him to face someone batting 350. Ibarra will be batting behind katz for the rest of the year so forget that.
