How to defeat the shift.

It seems to me that learning how to bunt the opposite way of the shift would stop the shift. on a left handed batter the third baseman is close to where the shortstop would be. teach your left handers to bunt down the third base side strong enough for the pitcher not to field it. Whats the issue with this? Maybe college pitching is too complex for this to be a solution.

According to an arse of posters here, the shift never works.

I’ll pass it on. I doubt that any professional or college coaches have ever considered this.

small ball didn’t win at any point this weekend but everyone is dying for LSU to suddenly become a small ball team

Not at all. I figure you do it a few times and just show them your team actually knows how to bunt and the shift stops. Just asking. I hate small ball btw.

the whole point of the shift is that teams can live with a bunt single.
but you also have to be able to put it exactly down the 3b line because remember the pitcher can also field a bunt.

no it doesn’t.
i watched David Ortiz bunt to beat the shift a couple times.
and everyone still shifted every single time he came to the plate after that.

Josh Pearson literally did this against the shift once this year and they quit shifting the rest of the game.
Teams shifted the SS over but largely left the 3B in a relatively normal position so it wasn’t possible

seems as if Woffard executed small ball to a 5-0 lead with it. Your rebutal will be "look at the score at end", But if Woffard had 1/2 the pitchers LSU had LSU isn't playing tonight

“it worked untill they had to keep up with us”
I mean our pitchers were also pissing. down their leg that inning. But again, we smoked wofford. But we also smoked Kentucky last year and that was one of the best small ball teams i’ve ever seen.

LSU won most postseason games yesterday than Wofford has in their history. What do you think works dude

DON’T BE A DEAD PULL HITTER
USE THE ENTIRE FIELD

Plus quit trying to be a dead pull hitter when the other team knows it and pitches outside because of it causing pop ups and grounders off the end of the bat. Start teaching all of the hitters to go with the pitch. If LSU hits the other way it’s mostly because they are late with the swing. Everyone thru the lineup tries to park it damn near every at bat.
Anyways, the dingers will come without obviously trying if you concentrate on putting a solid swing on the ball with todays Ali-mune-e-um bats.

Thus was very evident; looked like every one wanted to play hero ball
