FSU lost to Georgia Tech. The same Georgia Tech team that beat Alcorn State and Tulane to start the season, and then lost every game after that . . . except Florida State.

Miles is a good recruiter, and is terrible with quarterbacks.

However, I would not take Miles over Fisher.

LSU lost to Arkansas last year and got shut out. The same Arkansas team that finished 2-6 in conference play.

Where is LSU ranked in recruiting?

LSU is #1 - 247Sports
LSU is #1 - Rivals
LSU is #2 - ESPN (Ole Miss is #1 but has 3 more recruits. ESPN has not updated to show Divinity commitment.) fricking ESPN is terrible!

You make my point,

Your POINT was that you don't want to see "the program run into the ground." That's YOUR quote up there. And CLEARLY, the program is NOT being run into the ground. To the contrary, the program has NEVER had a recruiting run like it is experiencing right now.

Sooo, winning an SEC championship and getting to a national championship game every five years is not enough for you?

I don't expect a dynasty, but I see a considerable number of less talented teams playing in considerably better bowls. Iowa, Stanford, Michigan St., Clemson, Ole Miss, Ok St., etc. Face it, Miles has not gotten the most out of his talent, not close.

Arkansas had a winning season last year.

Georgia Tech has ONE conference win this year.

Just ONE win in conference.

That ONE win was against Florida State.

quote:

My biggest problem with this whole ordeal is how LSU fans have somehow all gotten together and decided that Jimbo Fisher is this amazing head coach. It's like we all have collective amnesia from his time here as OC. And while FSU has picked back up now that they have jettisoned the fetid corpse of Bobby Bowden, let's not forget that Jimbo was the OC during their downturn.

FSU is one game better than LSU in the standings with a MUCH easier schedule. According to Fremeau's SOS rankings (my personal favorite metric for long reasons I won't get into), LSU's SOS ranks 3rd. FSU? 39th.

Jimbo builds gaudy records against one of the easiest schedules a contending team plays in the nation, and then gets exposed when his team plays an actual elite team. Or, usually, his team loses to a far inferior opponent just about every year. His offenses aren't particularly innovative for those of you pining for the spread, as he's a late adopter. He tends to be just like Miles in the concept of just throwing talent out there and hoping God sorts things out.

And let's not even get into the off-the-field stuff. He's not worth the headache for no appreciable upgrade over Miles. You want to fire Les? Fine. Find a better candidate. Jimbo is not the answer. He is not an upgrade.

I was just stating what I perceived to be the answer to OP's question.
Had Les been fired, I imagine a contract would have been offered and signed before bowl game so Jimbo doesn't coach the game. Therefore the outcome has no bearing on how stupid the deal looks.

Not sure why the verbal attack is necessary. I don't get on here to argue and name call, was just answering the question.

I was not calling for Les to be fired at any point, nor was I calling for Jimbo to be hired.

Why? What reliable source had Jimbo coming to LSU? Tell me the number of times in the last 25 yrs. a recent NC HC went from one school to another the next yr.

It just doesn't ring true on my common sense detector.

Probably so unfortunately. Just like the "Les is holding us back" threads every time LSU loses a game or God forbid wins one in a fashion the rant deems unworthy.

Or the "I wish we had an offense like this!!" threads when a team throws for 500 yards and ends up losing

LSU O, QBed by a tr. So. starting his 1st yr., averaged more yds. a game and scored 1 pt. a game less than the Bama O.

Just spit balling here, but maybe the O is not some terrible, under performing unit as many on here like to claim.

Do you really think that every, single local media member was wrong? There wasn't single mouthpiece connected to the program that felt that Les Miles was staying up until that Saturday of the A&M game. Every, single one said Fisher was coming.

This wasn't a tigerdroppings fabricated story.

I didn't hear Jimbo was coming to LSU from "every, single local media member", did you?? And it seems to me that "every, single local media member" who reported that was wrong.

Give me an example of a HC a couple yrs. removed from a NC jumping to another program in the last 25 yrs.

Look, shite happens and I am not pretending to know anything 100%. I am just saying that Jimbo coming here for 2016 seems more wishful thinking to me than anything else, but each to our own.

Link to any media outside the lsu echo chamber that mentioned jimbo was coming to lsu much less even connected in some way at all to lsu and its coaching situation?

I'm kind of surprised how much you bought into this and how you are now some huge alleva defender. You don't seem like the alleva boot licker type.

Agree completely. I concede the fact that Jimbo is excellent with Quarterbacks but I don't really remember really great offenses on a consistent basis when he was the OC at LSU. I remember a lot of run, run, pass, punt or pass on 1st down - incomplete, run on 2nd down - gain 3 yards, pass on 3rd down - incomplete, punt on 4th down. Let's face it FSU's schedule is nowhere near what it is playing in the SEC West. Realistically Jimbo's offense and consequently his record wouldn't be anywhere near at LSU what is at FSU. Jimbo is not a miracle worker and imho definitely not the answer.

People who keep stating 2015 OM is less talented than LSU are DUMB. How many LSU players are projected to go in the top 15 of the 2016 draft vs OM? It's not close. Who clearly had a better QB? Bama and OM were more talented, get over it, AR was not. The rest of those teams don't play in the SECW so comparisons are largely pointless.

Les has a #1 to #3 recruiting class in the nation lined up. That's just good to you, clown?

The six of the 10 top performing QBs in LSU history as listed here last week has been under Les and three of the top four yards per play offenses have been under Les.

The negative clowns never stop showing off their retards ways.

I did buy into it. I bought in because local media members who don't normally jump the gun on such issues (I'm not talking Ott, but guys like Hannigriff and especially Moscona have never jumped the gun, in fact Moscona has always mocked those that wanted Miles out) were all convinced it was happening. You hear a few rumors elsewhere, which could have been coming from the same wishful thinking TAF members that led to the TD posters jumping the gun, but I trust local media guys long before ESPN hack writers (see the Lunch with Les that aired live on espn2 cause they thought he was announcing his resignation).

Yes Bee, I read what was quoted the following week by F King himself and remain convinced that something was happening until F King was persuaded by politics, including Jindal and Edwards, to stop it.
