Tell me, I live here. I actually love Lafayette (much better than when I lived in Lake Chuck), but I get sneered at from several friends for being an LSU fan.
It goes both ways though. LSU fans seem to look down on ULL fans and love to use the name thing as an excuse to start an argument. ULL fans get defensive about being looked down on, and use the name thing as a way to piss off LSU fans.
Funny thing is, it works on both accounts.

Not a flame as I'm not familiar with the area but do ULM fans refer to their sports teams as UL as well? Just curiuos I honestly have no idea.

As far as it being just a sports thing...it's not. The sign on University and Johnson says "UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA at lafayette".
Except I can't type "lafayette" 4 sizes smaller than Louisiana like it is on the sign.

Well technically Houma is larger in terms of krewes (11 vs 8)...BUT Laffy is a bigger city, so naturally there will be more people in attendance.
Either way, I don't really give a shite. The point was to make that other guy's post saying "Laffy has more vacationers than BR" look more ridiculous than it already was.
Bottom line, ULL people do have an inferiority complex. I had at least 6 or 7 statuses pop up on FB from ULL people bragging about the win as if it meant anything in the grand scheme of things. That's annoying...they won in a mid-week game. ULL still won't be ranked, still won't make the CWS, and most likely wont make a regional. So congrats to them.

The last beating in 09 stung until we won that little tourny played in Omaha. How does it feel knowing you are in the same conference as, and losing to, The University of LOUSIANA at monroe?

why do you care? Because you actually DO care. You are therefore worse than those you have issues with. If you DID NOT CARE, or if YOU had the very esteem you are laughing at ULL fans about, you would not have said anything at all.

UL has rights to the University of Louisiana name as granted by the original owner, Tulane. Insecurity on the part of certain other universities is the only thing really preventing them from using it.

i'm fine with it, especially when UL-L beats LSU.Everytime you put down UL-L, your making LSU look worst, as aren't they supposed to win everytime against the so called inferior opponent?
