2019 should clearly show a strong LSU has nothing to do with state schools. Tulane, ULL and Tech had great years. I remember in the 90s when LSU was going after the same kids as other in state schools.

It doesn't bother me that much. It bothers me a little because I am from Louisiana and the state gets shite on enough and doesn't need a poser directional college trying to represent the entire state by name.

There are plenty of directional schools in the country. Are they just as unworthy of their home states name in your opinion?

Name another University of (insert state) with the combination of low academics and weak athletics of the University of Louisiana and we can compare. I can't think of one in the P5 conference footprint.

Let's be honest, LSU is THE university in Louisiana and, while outstanding athletically, it still needs to improve significantly on the academic side.

Ohio University

I doubt Ohio State fans were starting threads about the Bobcats weeks after winning a national title in 2014

like most LSU fans who get butthurt about what the school in Lafayette calls itself

What you folks like you don't realize, in your quest for legitimacy, is that taking the name of Louisiana for your university means, in some small way, you represent the people of Louisiana. The problem some of us have, is that the university of Louisiana is subpar and we don't want to be represented by you, even in that small way. If you were good at either academics or athletics and could bring some glory to the state, then there would be an argument for the acceptability of your usurping the name.

But, alas, you're not good at anything, so here we are.

Why are you wanting to look only in the P5? The University of Wyoming is another example.

If you think the school in Lafayette is why Louisiana is looked down upon, you may be dumber than I initially assumed.

ETA: LSU isn't an academic juggernaut either

What’s your experience with Ohio University students? And why does it matter to you what they or Cajuns fans do? Is your life that boring that this bothers you?

I have degrees from both and would rather the university go back to University of Southwestern Louisiana so both sides quit acting like insecure queers over a name.

It does bother you, just look at the remainder of the sentence. If ULL is representing the state in a positive manner, why would that be a bad thing for them to have University of Louisiana @ ... as their name? No different that Southeaster Louisiana, or Louisiana Tech.

where are you getting low academics and weak athletics from in regards to UL?

You are a loser and a pussy. I am still celebrating our season so hard, I haven't even thought about Louisiana. Why are you thinking about them?? Go buy another championship t shirt and quit hating other La. teams.

Was called Ohio University in 1804. FYI, OSU was Ohio A&M until the 1870s.

That's why OSU doesn't say anything.

that isn’t what your arguing. You’re arguing that a G5 shouldn’t represent the state because of athletics and academics (lol).

What I said was show me another school in the P5 footprint with the combo of poor academics and athletics that UL has. You threw out the University of Ohio, which is ranked significantly higher academically than UL. They've also had the name for 200+ years, so even if they were as bad as UL, no one would complain about the name like they would for a school that is ambitiously trying to shed it's directional history.

Fuk ULL. Their handful of fans continually hate on LSU. I love Lafayette but I can't stand ULL or its
rinky-dink fanbase.

I think the University of Louisiana thing is unnecessary, but I also am not making ridiculous arguments that it sullies the good name of the State of Louisiana.

It isn't LSU acting like anything. The State Legislature ruled on this stupidity years ago and Requires ULL
to use Lafayette as part of their name and says clearly that no one school can have the University of Louisiana designation because all schools in the University of Louisiana system are autonomous and the is no flagship campus. ULL needs to grow up and obey the law as the State Legislature intended.

Agree. I root for them and wear their stuff up here in Michigan all the time. It’s cool. I forget sometimes but even call them UL.
