LOL, one of these doesn't belong !

Tradition, academic profile, New Orleans, and would be respectable with the resources from being in that conference.

Counter:

North
Mizzou (LSU)
Memphis (Tulane)
Arkansas (A&M)
Oklahoma (Texas)
West Virginia (Baylor)
Louisville (Houston)

South
Houston (Louisville)
LSU (Mizzou)
Tulane (Memphis)
Texas (Oklahoma)
A&M (Arkansas)
Baylor (West Virginia)

Cross Division rivals are in ()

If we have to add 2 more teams, we can add Texas Tech to the South and OK State to the North. Or we could add Cinci and Notre Dame to the north and shift OU and Arky south

LSU has over 31,000,000 logical reasons NOT to leave the SEC.
But go ahead and keep up the reactionary indignation. It's amusing.

1) Can I get just one of those 13,000,000 in writing? please?

2)"Reactionary indignation"? So what have I said that indicates a reactionary response? that's indignant?

What the frick are you even talking about?!?!?!?

13M to 31M - question remains the same.....

leave Tulane out. Conference should have no more than one school from each state other than Texas which is large enough to support two schools

Plus your conference has to much of a texas flavor (which is one of the biggest problems with the Big 12. We are not trying to start a Texas and the rest conference.)

I would go with TExas and TCU (Texas Christian University has a nice ring to it) HOustan leave out because we want, for the most part teams, with state names in them, not city names, with Memphis being the exception because we need a Tennessee team. Texas AM and Baylor out. TCU a better and variety fit, (like a pinch of pepper to the pot)

Louisville or Memphis, pick one. To close to each other and don't want city name teams.

I like your addition of MiZZou.

Um, no. What LuckyTiger got was a bunch of anonymous assholes to click a button, rather than present their opinions in writing.... very different from "your answer" in my opinion....

If you lose too many interior schools, you lose too many rivalries and end up with nothing but a bland, steril conference.

Since LSU would be losing so many rivals (Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn) I thought adding Tulane would help ease that pain. Plus, an annual game with Texas would be fun indeed. As far as Memphis and Louisville, I feel like Conferences should be relatively contiguous, and those two teams bridge the gap between West Virginia and the rest of the conference. Plus, regionally, Memphis is a rival for South Louisiana and St. Louis.

Version 2:

Texas
Baylor
Texas Tech
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State

Kansas
Nebraska
Mizzou
Kansas State
Iowa State
Colorado

entirely new "super" conference

I was thinking along these lines, but fewer members:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Florida State
Georgia
LSU
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas
Texas A&M

To answer the OP: LSU should stay in the SEC.

I think using the Big 12 talks to get what we want from the sec would be smart.

I firmly agree with the poster that said that the SEC power structure and along with it's systematic media bias is slowly picking away at LSU in order to influence recruits and the general population to downgrade LSU.

We will in the near future remember the bygone days when LSU was a powerfull and relavent football power.

As long as the SEC offices are in Birmingham and the Bama power structure that controls this conference and media influence, LSU will slowly erode away.

Either the offices at moved to Atlanta or Indianopolis or LSU leaves the conference to start a new copnferance. A fair and respectfull conferance of all its members.

I think many schools (for a variety of reasons) would jump at the chance to join such a conference. Many are unhappy with their current conferance situations.

I'm sure a lot of the big 12 is unhappy and would jump at a change. It has become mainly a Texas conference. Auburn would probably jump to get away from Alabama. Mississippi can't support two SEC schools so either Miss St (preferable) or Ole Miss need to join the ASC (all south conference). Notre Dame may be looking. Some teams, such as Maryland or Virgiana Cavs may just need a fresh perspective that a new conference could bring. S Florida Bulls is bigger than Florida U or Fla St and deserves a shot at the big time. Texas needs a fresh start outside the big 12. Just many options and opportunities that a new conference could bring for a lot of schools that deserve a better shake than they are getting from their current situations.

I like it much better, but still way to much Texas flavor in it for my taste.

Also why not add S Florida Bulls. I feel they deserve to be in a good conference. I see they don't really fit your area profile though as you currently have it configured. I think you should add Auburn (who needs to get away from the Tide) and S Fla and move the conference a little more eastward.

Plus Oklahoma and Oklahoma St goes against the idea of one school per state (except texas with two) which I think is important because we want each school to be the representative of their respective state in our conference.

you need some weaker teams to balance out the conference. But most importantly, where would such a conferances offices be located? You still have Bama. Do they still get to control the running of the conference, the media slant, and the ref system?

You made this thread because you were irritated by the SEC being Bamas bitch.
I was irritated too but after thinking about it. It's stupid to leave the best Conference.

You'd lose recruits you normally get and lose the chance to play in the strongest conference in the country.

I don't follow your thinking on either count. Many great institutions started with what many would consider a crazy dream, a dream for fairness and respect for all.

Why would you want a directional school with zero alumni base and a small fanbase? They bring nothing to the table except the fact that they're in Florida, and if you were going that far, you might as well add Central Florida as the superior directional school.

I would like to see LSU jump into the Big XII, but only because I live close to most Big XII schools and it would be a shorter trip if I wanted to see an LSU game.
