There's no prohibition on wearing the gold shirt to other games in the future. You don't have to burn it.

Lots of schools have primary color, like the ones you mentioned, so yeah, they just show up in one color anyway.
LSU doesn't exactly have that. Is it purple, white, gold?
I would be willing to bet most people have purple shirts though. Wonder why the don't push a purple game rather than a gold one?
