If he even performs up the standards for a good high school quarterback I will be surprised. This guy does not appear to have too much going on between the ears.

Now you are changing the rules on us. First you asked how many jj haters would eat crow if he plays like cam newton. NOW you are saying all he has to do is play his best football ever. HUGE difference in the two requirements for eating crow. jj playing his best football ever will not be a stretch, all he has to do is throw ONE TD pass in every game & pass for over 100 yrds in each game & he will have achieved that, & those numbers are nowhere near a cam newton like performance. jj ain't cam newton & he doesn't have to be, all he has to do is not F up, manage the game, & get the ball to his weapons. If he does that, his numbers will improve & so will his legacy.

I hate this kinda crap! JJ has been inconsistent throughout his career but has had some very good games. For some people to try and rag others for their doubts and act like we don't want the best QB on the field no matter what his name is. Sports is all about second guessing. I am shocked people act like they are all JJ's unflinching followers. Let the best guy play but this is sports!

Especially the part about comparing him to another qb who happened to win a heisman & led his team to the NC. jj doesn't have to BE anyone but jj & master his OWN skill set, not that of another qb. If we want him to be cam newton, why not want him to be tim tebow, or matt flynn, or luck from stanford, or ANY other qb who has had success. Comparing him to another athlete with different abilities, different offensive schemes,& different players around him is stupid. Next year, will Mett (or whoever) have to be cam newton also?

I'd take 2009's exact stats with 15 sacks on the year and be ecstatic.

If JJ plays like Cam Newton, ill drive to Baton Rouge and let anyone who predicted it kick me in the balls 5 times each.

I wouldn't as in 2009 I don't think Jefferson was a good QB. I think he improved in 2010 and started to try and throw more downfield instead of short little 5 yard passes and then letting receivers do the work. He took more chances from one season to the next and I think Crowton attempted to open up the offense a bit more.
I think he decided to run forward instead of backwards reducing the number of sacks he took as well.

Because he took too many sacks, that's it really. I should say 2009's passing with 2010's rushing. 62% completion percentage 2200 yards 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions this year will take LSU to Atlanta. That's all you can ask for imo. Add 2010's 450 yards on the ground and 7 touchdowns and JJ is an outstanding QB for LSU. If he puts up those numbers this year, LSU will play in NOLA. No doubt in my mind.

quote:Because he did not take chances... many passes were short and he did not take the chances he did the previous season. It became the receivers making the first guy miss and then putting up the yards. I liked last year how LSU attempted to throw more downfield than the previous season. Jefferson was not accurate and the receivers dropped balls but they tried to change tempo.

You do know his YPA in 2009 was higher than Flynn's in '07... or Lee's at any point.
Just saying...
