this question SHOULD be,
"How many basketball championships would = 1 baseball championship?" ...
seeing as how baseball has 6 already, in the last(first?) 18 years, and basketball has really been on the roller-coaster season-in and season-out, and WILL NEVER CHANGE unless the ncaa/nba change the underclass pro-eligibility rules, the realistic chances of an LSU winning a ncaa basketball championship are, unfortunately, non-existent... no great players are going to stay more than 2 years at most... most will leave after 1 year... Tasmin has really showed what he is made of, deep down, this year... I only wish it could have been a better year for him to go out a senior... he may very will be the last 4 year player for a long time...

It's just fricking stupid. Look, I can understand LSU fans wanting to win a National Championship in basketball. But to say that THEY would TRADE a National Championship in one sport for a National Championship in another is just fricking stupid. Every player that puts LSU across their chest and plays a sport represents LSU. And I respect the players that do it. To say some stupid selfish comment like that just goes to show what kind of fan they are. I really would love to see the reaction of the player to the person who would tell them shite like this, I really would. Don't come around sayin shite like....i'll be very happy if LSU wins a baseball championship...but....

frick THAT shite! GO frick YOURSELF! THAT WOULD BE FOR YOUR HAPPINESS BUT DON'T SPEAK FOR THE REST OF US! I would love to see LSU win a National Championship in basketball, but I guarantee, I would not trade one of the trophies that our players have played for, for ANYTHING!

It really makes me wonder about the stability of a person who is a fan of a school who competes one sport against the other at the school that they're a fan of. I mean...HOW frickED UP IS THAT?

It would probably take 3 straight baseball championships for me to be as excited as I would about 1 basketball championship.

Zero

Every fan has their own sports that they like and follow. It's unfair to our LSU players to say we would trade one of their championships and degrades their accomplishment.

Just like the Saints winning the Super Bowl - it will come - and be that much sweeter.

top NBA sallery<<< top MLB or NFL sallery
^^^that may seem irrelevemt but it kinda shows the importance to the sport in a way

regardless.... If we were Kentucky you would say the same thing about trading basketball ships for 1 football one... Stop being A little bitch about the shitty backetball it will get better for the new coach... We are dominate in THE two major sports in te united states (dispute what people think about 2 sup par winning season from the football tream)

I can not believe an LSU fan would even think of doing anything like this!

If, IF, I-F, you are an LSU Fan you would never be a party to something like this. No matter what sport these kids put their lives on the line and play their hearts out for LSU and you want to do something like this?

I am like "Lester Earl" if you want them to win bad enough why aren't you in the seats every game? That helps just as much as having great players on the court does, so stop the non-sence and start supporting all the sports at LSU. Right now LSU Baseball is the second revenue getting sport behind only football. Why are they expanding the Baseball park every year and not the P-Mack? That right there ought to tell you enough.

Horse of a different color. Shaq gets attention because he is the most dominant player all time. Nobody has ever been able to compete at that level.

BM and RT were just very good players.

I was at LSU when we had very good football and basketball as well as the first few years of Bertman's baseball teams. LSU may not get the ESPN recognition, but the baseball program there is recognized here. More parents & kids come to our table at college fairs and ask about LSU baseball. Of course, I tell them I can't talk about that but do give them the list of contacts at LSU. They tell me stories that they've heard and how it is their dream to go to LSU and play baseball. These are California kids.
Baseball is known as America's pasttime and since my days at LSU, college baseball has gotten much, much bigger. I love the sport and prefer it over what we now have with college basketball.

As I've written before, if you want an example of "sports dynasty," you could hardly do better than LSU baseball over the past two decades. I don't give a shite if college baseball is No. 3 behind football and basketball, this is an enormous achievement that's at least equal to what Kentucky, North Carolina or Kansas have achieved in basketball over the past two decades.

I'd trade five of the ones we have...I'd keep the Warren Morris Home-Run game.

I want LSU to win it all in every sport but I'm probably in the minority here in that the passion for LSU baseball will never be the same as football and hoops for me cause I grew up going to those games with my Dad from age 7.

Baseball, despite all those championships just can't compete with that. Baseball at LSU was a minor sport along the lines of tennis till I was in my 20's.

But beyond that what a title in hoops would bring in terms of national publicity in hoops and brand recognition would be 10-fold more beneficial to the school.

I remember taking a trip to Wrigley last year mere weeks after we'd won it all and nobody knew we'd won the CWS title. They had a vague idea and a few asked how we'd done in baseball, but none knew. And two of the folks were from SEC states.

None of that should detract one iota from the enjoyment of our success by our true die-hard baseball fans.

baseball to me is only slightly less important than football so I wouldnt trade any NC for a basketball title.

LSU is one of the top 3-5 baseball programs all time. winning ONE basketball title wouldn't even put us in the top 10 of basketball programs all time

Basketball certainly gets more media with the tournament. It would be about a 3 to 4 for one exchange.

Dale and Brady got us Final Fours. Nobody remembers those teams around the country.
And look at the current state of the basketball program. Abysmal this year. Even though we made a recent Final 4 and went into the tournament last year after winning the SEC.

We are Never going to win an NCAA or make Final Fours unless we bring in kids that will eventually be in the Pros. Trent does not believe in that path. He wants "program" kids that stick around.
