PM built the team. He didn't start with a real good team and mismanage it.
this. i have no doubts or concerns about the future of LSU baseball.

This is the most ridiculous post I've ever read.
Has Mainieri consistently had underperforming teams throughout his entire tenure? Miles has.
Have Mainieri's teams consistently been penalized for stupid mental errors repeatedly? Miles has.
The baseball team is having an off year. The football program has been in steady and consistent decline since goof ball got here. There's a difference.

Previous coach and a certain current HC in another sport really underachieved

I think alot of people get on here just to start shite. Paul is doing a fine job. A few problems have arose that he can do nothing about:
1. A Ranaudo injury
2. T Watkins injury
3. 2 or 3 top recruits that never made it to campus
4. B Dean hitting .238 in SEC play
He is a great coach and will turn this thing around. Get off your high-horses

Maybe people will buy tickets to see Trent's Tots next season.
We need to support basketball better - we're going to be a fun team.
We'll even have a few white players so the LSU baseball fans will have somebody to cheer for!
Ricky Blanton! Don Reddon! Pistol Pete!

That's not really true. Winning a national title is not a "decline" from winning the Peach Bowl and then the Sugar Bowl.
Miles had an upswing for 3 years and now a downswing for 2 years. The downswing does appear a bit more hasty than the upswing was, and that's why the concerns are legitimate.

dude is dragging the program to average level, time for him to go. Obviously he has ruined what was built for him
sound familiar tardheads?

I'm not worried long term. The injury to Watkins has really seemed to derail the team, as the losing began when he got hurt. throw in Ranaudo's troubles and it's just one of those stretches.
That said, the team is still 500 in the SEC, has a fairly easy schedule over the last two weeks. Time to get some wins under the belt and get geared for the second season. This team just needs to find some pitching. (yeah, I know)

quote:Are you really this stupid or has your hate blinded you this much? During Miles first 3 years, we achieved more each year culminating in the NC in 2007. How is that decline? In 2008 we had a down (rebuilding) year much like we are having this year in baseball. In 2009 we bounced back to begin building towards a championship with a 3rd place SEC finish and the best non-BCS bowl invitation. The problem is you fricktards continue to lump the last two years together and call it a decline when in fact we has one bad rebuilding year followed by a solid ranked season setting up another conference title run.

Will all of you be lumping the baseball teams 2 year conference record together next year to make it appear shitty if they are better than this year but still not up to the ranter standards?

Two things would have changed this season tremendously. AR not getting hurt and Watkins not getting hurt.
12-11 since Watkins got hurt. I don't think AR has had a positive influence on the season.
If those two guys were injury free, we are probably top 5, but shite happens, just like RP getting kicked off, TT leaving early back in 06, etc. Other than 07, PM has done a great job. He was dealing with all of Smoke's players and getting recruits in, so I throw that out. Let's see what he does next year before fans start throwing him off the bus.

he didn't make it out of the regionals his second to last regional and he didn't even make the NCAA tourney his last year. Smoke started with alot of good players who where left over from the skip.
First year made to supers but not omaha
2nd year won SEC tourney champs made omaha 2 and done
3rd year made omaha 2 and done
4th year made regionals no supers
5th year no post season (fired)
PM comes in
first year no tourney (mostly smoke players not much talent)
2nd year won SEC tourney made it to omaha went 1-2 in omaha
3rd year won it all only 2 losses in post season 1 to vandy to open SEC tourney then came from losers bracket to win it and then won SEC tourney, won all games until game 2 loss to Texas.
LSU baseball under smoke crashed and burned, PM rose it from the ashes to win a national championship in 3 years

Believe it or not, this board is not representative of LSU fans. It's a small fraction of our fanbase comprised of a growing number of immature kids.
Why these fools can't see this is beyond me. The LSU fanbase is similar to a hundred others except for baseball, where we are vastly superior.
We care about baseball. Few other schools do. This board is much different than many others simply because it allows more dissent than many aothers. It also attracts more idiots and attention whores.
We have more people bitching about the fans than fans bitching about the coaching these days.

we beat 0 good teams in 2009 in football.
Smoke actually had a pretty good record at LSU. Those 2 years everyone looks at are just unfair
