Some of yall really live in a fantasy world you don't understand the difference between LSU football and already national brand when Special Ed took over in one of the most talent rich states in the country with almost unlimited resources. While the basketball program Wade took over was a laughing stock couldn't make the Tournament with the #1 overall pick, in a state with very little HS basketball talent and doesn't have the financial backing of the university like other SEC schools. And Wade made the postseason every year including 4 straight tourney appearances something this school hasn't done since Dale Brown.
Wade was a phenomenal recruiter because the players he was getting to come to LSU there is no way LSU was out bidding other schools with the resources LSU provides for basketball. Our new coach is good but I feel like LSU won't provide him with the resources he needs to compete with other SEC schools with the built in disadvantages LSU has.

They ran the program into the ground in different ways.

Yes the great and successful LSU basketball program lead by Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones. LSU is still in a better place after Wade then it ever was with Johnson and Jones. Wade showed that you can win at LSU on a consistent basis. A coach like McMahon wouldn't have taken the LSU job after the state Jones left it in. LOL in saying a dead LSU basketball program was ran into the ground.

Will Wade was fired and is no longer coaching at LSU. Just so you Will Wade lovers know.

Because of Matt McMahon, give him the credit. But the question had nothing to do with Johnson and Jones, it had to do with Wade and Orgeron. When Matt McMahon took over this program there were zero scholarship players back. You can't get closer to rock bottom than that.
and dead basketball program? Didn't LSU have the most SEC regular season wins in the three seasons prior to Wades firing? The program was anything but dead.

Actually the three guys who are holdovers from last season never left LSU so they were here on campus McMahon just convinced them to stay which every coach has to do every year. McMahon even said he had to decide how many to bring with him from Murray based on how many guys would stay so there was never a scenario where McMahon was going to start from zero. It’s a nice media talking point but it isn’t actually real. Just for reference we had 3 holdovers this season, we had 4 last season. This is the nature of modern college basketball, there were 20+ other teams who returned less than we did and a couple of them are top 25 teams.
