Listening to Dr. Bhrett McCabe this morning on the golf channel got me thinking.
Have we tried to hire him back home?

Between and Andrews we’ve produced the best sports body and mind team in the world.
And it doesn’t seem like either are involved at LSu

I always think about this when I watch Wendy Rhoades on the show Billions.
We need a sports version of her at LSU.

True. And until the folks on this board begin actively seeking help, we are truly in trouble.

I think professionals that are adept at managing the psychology of the team can only help.
There is a sports psychology department in LSU athletics. Hope it's being put to good use.

Saban was the first coach I know of to introduce a sports psychologist at LSU. Unless you count Skip, who was probably the best layperson sports psychologist in the country.

Skip actually hired a sports psychologist for the baseball team in the late 1990's. He was very open about it and said that his usual visualization techniques were not enough for whichever team that was. :)

There is a sports psychologist and team on staff at LSU. They are housed in the athletic training program. The current position is held by Dr. LaKeitha Poole.

That’s awesome ! I did not realize how much emotional support is provided for our student athletes.

I believe Will Wade brings in a sports psychologist not employed by LSU.

Skip used the wisdom and teachings of Ken Ravizza. The father of "the process." Ravizza's book Heads up Baseball is a must read for any ballplayer wishing to understand the mental game.
Brian Cain is really good as well. However last time he was in the BR area he visited the LSU softball team and ZHS.

I remember reading that Will aware implemented mindfulness training for his players. Pretty awesome stuff.

Back in the 1990's I knew Utah gymnastics coach Greg Marsden (9 NCAA Championships from 1982 to 1995). He was adamant that his sports psychology staff was the single most important factor in his success.

But Marsden started his program with sports psychology as a firm part of it, and the Utes went from 10th nationally in their first year to ninth the second, sixth the third, then fourth, then second and then six straight national team championships. The year Henschen [Dr. Keith Henschen, psychologist], came aboard as a full consultant was the year Utah first won, 1980-81.
No other college gymnastics team that Marsden or Henschen know of uses mental training as faithfully as do the Utes. Henschen says there are maybe 20 college programs in the country, encompassing many sports - two in football (Kansas, Virginia) - that use mental training in ways similar to what the Utah gymnastics team does, but no other gym programs do.
