How is it that JD5 played such a God awful game?

I wonder whether he was ill. 86 yards passing against an really bad pass defense.
He appeared confused like he had a fever/flu.

It was pretty much a duplicate of the Auburn game. It’s called a hangover game

JD5’s Auburn and Arkansas games were every bit as bad as Jefferson and Jennings worst games

We didn't handle the blitz well at all. He had someone in his face on every drop back it seems.

He isn't a very good passer, he never throws a receiver open or hit them in stride. They usually have to slow down to catch the ball thrown behind them.

He looked a lot slower when running the ball as well.
To be honest I'm not exactly thrilled with the play-calling and overall scheme. We attempted zero short passes. No slants over the middle, no screens, no hitting the backs out of the backfiled, etc. Nothing.
It seemed like every pass play we called were these slow, long developing plays where the pocket just eventually collapsed.

I think it had a lot to do with Denbrock’s play calling. But JD5 didn’t look great, yeah

He got hit and hit again and when he wasn’t hit he had a dude in his face
The oline was garbage in pass blocking

So do most QBs

It was super cold, 11 am, and coming off an emotional big win. Our O line was also getting crushed. Just glad we came out with a W.

He held the ball in the pocket all day. Pretty pbvious

He was definitely not the guy we saw the last three games. I hope he gets back to that.

Most QBs don't get sacked 7 times in a game. Our blocking/blitz pickup was awful.

His instincts are to hold it until he sees a WR open.
Against Zone, that's harder.
He regressed this week.

Guys were open and he still didn't throw it

1. Offensive line played offensive.
2. Held onto the ball too long.
3. Terrible throws.
4. Bad play calling by the coaches.

They said on the radio after the game that he had flu like symptoms

The offensive line didn't protect particularly well.
At times he held on to the ball too long

Most QB's can throw it away. JD5 seems to not even be able to do that.
Alot of those sacks are on him for not throwing it away.

It seems the coaches got together and decided: Let’s see how bad we can play but still win.
