How is Brad Davis still employed?

The rumor mill has it that the Sunday meeting between Woody & Kelly devolved into a shouting match over who on the staff would be fired and who would remain: Kelly wanting to retain Sloan and fire Davis, and Woody, vice versa. With the end result of Kelly going.

Now only a fool would argue that Sloan should be retained. But the oline has underperformed all year, with no signs of development. Why was Woody so determined to keep Davis, when realistically, BOTH of them should be history?
