I believe Gary Danielson mentioned during the game that he saw LSU practicing an option pass play

covering LB

That's the problem. We don't want our weakness (LB's) covering their strength (TR).

Use a safety as a spy and I think we match up better.

The option pass would be fricking money

JJ just has to be accurate

Ford at TB and Hillard at FB. Hillard runs the dive off the option look. Bama must account for Ford, Hillard and JJ. WR's will be running down the field one on one all game long.

Hell, put Shep and Ford in the shotgun, with 4 wide....

The Bama backers are too slow, and they would probably shite themselves.

ETA: Run the option out of this formation, and every so often let him pull up and toss one.

and all you need to do is hit it a couple of times before the option runs open right back up. once you have them second guessing, its over

how about the shovel pass out of the option. i feel like florida has run this in the past with tebow and is almost impossible to defend if the read is made right.

shane matthews to errict rhett in the 92 championship game, worked like a charm

anything to stop them from closing in on the traditional, run only speed option we like to do so much

Bama lost at home (sure in overtime), but if you look at what Bama did. They used Richardson & Lacy, they threw to their receivers, they tried a reverse, they tried a half back pass. Lsu ran all their running backs, ran the option, and threw the ball (a little) after Lee threw two picks. Now Jefferson has gotten a few games of starting under his belt and Bama won't be able to just expect the option from him. LSU tried less and won, Bama tried more and loss.

One or two plays isn't going to win us the game. Throwing out of the option will not work everytime.

I think we'll stick to running the option with JJ/Ford. Defending the option isn't something Bama can master in a month. And we've been running it for 4 yrs now and are now running it very well with elite athletes no less.

I say we stick to running the option.

umm that leaves you with only 4 lineman unless RS is gonna play QB. If you run a shotgun split formation you can only have 3 WR's. Not 4.

I'm not suggesting we throw it our of the option every time, just enough to keep them honest
