The difference in value between Fournette's and McCaffrey's respective contracts is $10 million, with Fournette also receiving $7 million more in signing bonus. Only 4 picks separated the two as the #1 and #2 RB's selected.

Guice could stand to make a lot by coming back.

I would say Barkley is an early first rounder, 3-7, whereas Guice will probably be the 2nd RB drafted late in the first round, around 25-30.

He would be a fairly distant #2 in the class, pending combine. But it's really all irrelevant in terms of waiting a year to increase his relative draft stock. That incentive was greatly diminished with the last CBA. It's all about getting into the league soon and getting to that second contract as fast as possible where the real money is made, especially for a rb because they have the shortest of shelf lives.

It's almost definitely a bad financial decision to come back for his senior year. The only real justification is if the player just isn't ready for the NFL and thinks he needs more experience.

Good class. I think Guice is RB2 right now but ask me after the combine. Curious as to how he runs tho

You mean the guy with the really bad injury history? Nope.

It's definitely not an inconsequential difference, though. We are talking about $20 million dollars over the life of a contract, potentially. The second point assumes the extra year in college means a year less on realizing the benefits of that second contract. Guice still has a lot of tread left when looking at his overall carries compared to Fournette, Chubb etc.

On the ESPN ticker during the UGA/OU game, it showed Guice #2 RB, Chubb #8 and didn’t list Michel in top 10 surprisingly.

ETA: I believe their stock will go up after that impressive performance by each.

The difference is about $20m if you are saying that there is a chance that he goes from the 32nd overall pick this year to the 1st overall pick next year. Do you think that is a realistic projection? I'm confident in saying that it isn't even possible.

The actual best case scenario is actually much closer. At best it's likely a number very close to something that could be made up in one year of that second contract if he is able to make it in the NFL and to that contract. And it's not even a guarantee that he would increase his stock at all. There's always the risk that he gets injured next year and costs himself millions even on the first contract.

That's actually much more likely than he has some miraculous, meteoric rise in draft stock.

No, it assumes that the longer he waits to start working on the nest egg that could take care of him and his family for generations the more likely it is for something to go wrong and the less likely it is to happen.
