At this rate, Minter is gone.

Just imagine if Minter, Simon, and Reid stayed, plus maybe getting Mathieu back. We would be stacked.

I think we've shown the past 3 years our defense is going to reload regardless. We have lost multiple 1st rounders and are always a top 5 defense. Next year will be no different.

With that being said, we should definitely be better simply by having Mett under center with a year of experience.

I think Rasco, Freak, and maybe DHunter will be pretty damn good. 2 of the 3 have played a good bit.

Reid

Martin will fill in nicely. Maybe not as good as Reid has been but a slight drop off.

I think we there will be a slight drop off this side of the ball, but hopefully an increase on offense. Should even out and then with these guys who havent played alot, you never know which one will be the next all american.

DE Rasco
DT Freak
DT Ego
DE Hunter

Pretty good, but lacks depth. At DT we're down to Mickey Johnson and Quentin Thomas as backups. At DE, we're down to Maclin and Allen.

OLB Barrow
MLB Minter (or Feist)
OLB Jones (or Alexander)

A lot of depth, but we would miss Minter if he goes EE.

CB Mills
S Loston
S Martin
CB Collins

Pretty good, but no real playmakers and lack of experienced depth (Thomas, Raymond at CB; Thompson at S looks promising).

We will lose too much on D to make a championship run, IMHO. Mingo, Montgomery, Edwards, Logan, Reid, and possibly Minter and Simon.....gone.

Hard to argue, but these guys made such a huge impact as freshmen and sophmores, I have to assume we have guys behind them ready to step in and do the same.

They are good but different. Rasco and Hunter will be good in their own right, but they don't play like Mingo, for instance. None have that athleticism and we will miss it. I would have loved for us to pick up Julian Obioha in the last class (he went to A&M and made a few plays against us Saturday).

So the dline will be different. Bigger, a step slower. More powerful, less explosive.

Of greater concern is depth. Maclin and Allen have showed relatively little in three years at LSU. Not only do we lose Mingo and Montgomery, we also lose two solid backups in Edwards and Aghayere.

I don't think it's a given that Logan leaves. It'll be interesting to hear what information the draft peeps give him.

Large chunk of the secondary will be better, the LB's will be the strength of the group, able to stop the run and put pressure on qb's. D line will take a hit, but I expect Freak and Ego to become one of the nations best tandems. Hopefully the freshman step up to provide solid depth. Rasco is already ready to start at most places. Hunter should be solid. Don't sleep on Maclin, he still has great ability. If he works hard he could become a solid player too

Rasco has been playing well in his limited plays this season. It won't be Sam or KeKe, but from what I've see it won't be a huge drop off. Hopefully with the receivers and Mett getting a year under their belt (along with the new starters on OL), we will be pretty salty.

Love the depth Miles and co. have accumulated, and I don't see it stopping any time soon.

Real well. He's a very balanced player. Plus he's only a true sophomore. The other players have 2-3 years on him. I also expect some of the true freshman next year to play a good bit. Neal, Patterson, and Herron are pretty damn good, very underrated

I know most on here dont like looking ahead during the season, but I cant help but think that 2013 is shaping up to be a great season. We will have some big losses on defense, but we have been well prepared with most backups being in rotation and gaining experience. I think we will be very good in 2013. I see us being able to run the ball better than any team in the country and with some really good receivers coming in, ( AJ, Dural, Diarse) we should improve in the passing dept. Oline will be solid once again. What says the Rant?

A lot depends on intangibles like injuries, defections, suspensions, etc. We'll still return a ton of talent and we have some unproven guys who could turn out to be great. You would think that the QB situation would be better since Mett will have a full season of starts under his belt. My only concern is coaching. Will Miles keep Studwara as OC? If so, next year's offense may look a lot like what we're seeing now. I hope not, but it's entirely possible.

Loston is a sr-gone. Martin will be a speed upgrade. Minter stays IMO. Possibly Debo& Kwon at Lb with minter would be dynamic. Simon hasn't been good enough to go out as a soph. Rasco will replace Keke. I'd like to see Ego & freak as the 2 tackles. Question- who replaces Sam? X factor that could push us over- the return of HB.

I was worried about oline and dline.. Not anymore!

Oline will be great. Mett will be just fine. Rbs galore. Just hope receivers improve

Dline will still be beastly. Lbers ridiculous. Secondary will be fine

Looking forward to another title run!

Our defense will be the best in the country next year.

If you are implying we aren't the best D this year you are wrong. Statistically we are 2nd in the country! And the only reason we aren't listed as first defensively is because the offense leaves them on the field more than other teams.

Our D is the best this year and the people we are losing already have solid backups. We might drop a little bit next year but I doubt it will be much, maybe not at all.

Offensively I think our Oline will be better and that will make everyone better. People are eventually going to see just how good Mett really is when he actually has some talent around him.

This is a rebuilding year. Lot of youngsters getting playing time this year. I'm thinking 10-2 or better. Depends on how healthy we stay.

man, injuries are definately the x factor. but, IF mett and IF some wr's come around we are going to be frickING AWESOME. but we need that passing game and our trials and tribulations this year should be a distant memory. miles is the man, no matter what some say.
