quote:Let's play quote Madking:
building a false narrative
quote:
CPM didn’t build this program from the ground up and doesn’t challenge for titles every year.
quote:
Laval made the college World Series twice in 5 years that’s 40% of the time, CPM has made it 5 of 11 years that’s 45%.
quote:
you’re the kindve guy who ignores facts that don’t support their position while treating those that do as gospel.
quote:
Do you understand what he inherited?
Blake Dean
Jared Mitchell
Ryan Schimpf
Lois Coleman
Sean Ochinko
Jared Bradford
To name a few, you know the core leaders and top players from the 1 and only national title CPM won.
quote:
I never once said Smoke had as much success as CPM I haven’t once criticized CPM. The comment was made that CPM built LSUs baseball program from scratch to what it is now which is totally false. You’re not building from scratch when you inherit a team that had been to 2 World Series in the past 4 seasons and the previous coach leaves you the 3 best position players and your ace for your one and only national title team
quote:
You also claimed that Dean, Schimpf, Mitchell, and Coleman were shite and that Lavals last season was 06 lol. You don’t know a whole lot maybe you should do some research you might look less stupid.

maybe you can answer this, then
you post
Name the players from the 2003-2004 CWS teams that were still on the team in 2007 when Mainieri took over. Name the players on Mainieri's 2009 championship team that were ever actually coached by Smoke. This is a straight forward question you shouldn't have difficulty answering.

Speaking of "twisting words"... I call 2006 a shite team and all of the sudden it means I'm saying "Dean, Schimpf, Mitchell, and Coleman were shite"

Again I haven’t once given Smoke credit for CPMs success even though you keep saying I’m trying to say that without actually saying it. The stats I posted about Smoke were to illustrate that CPM didn’t inherit a program in shambles. A program isn’t in shambles when it’s been to an NCAA regional and two World Series in the 4 years before a coaching change no matter how much you wanna say it is. By that logic our baseball program was in shambles in 2011.

You said CPM inherited a shite team that’s the 07 team not the 06 team.
Posted on 2/19/18 at 11:09 am to ell_13
Dean, Mitchell, and Schimpf weren’t on the 06 team, brother.
Posted on 2/19/18 at 11:09 am to Madking
No. I said the team was shite for 2 years including 2007 thanks to what Smoke did. Pay attention, psycho.

But they were on the 07 team, why do you people keep insisting I’m saying Smoke should get credit? I’m saying when CPM arrived 07 the team wasn’t in shambles.

I'm sure he had no idea that none of those players were even on the 2006 team except for Coleman. It's actually quite amazing how quickly Mainieri turned it around given what he actually had. Players who were contributors from Smoke's last team that were still on the team included:
Chris Jackson (his senior year was 2007)
JT Wise (transferred after the 2007 season)
Clay Dirks (his senior year was 2007)
Michael Hollander
Jared Bradford
Louis Coleman (was awful in his 1 season with Smoke, ell_13 has already gone over the coaching he received that made him effective)
That's it. 6 players.

quote:2006 missed the post season for the first time in 18 years and had a losing SEC for the first time in 24 years. If that's not "shambles" for LSU, idk what is.
I’m saying when CPM arrived 07 the team wasn’t in shambles.
Of course, you also said that PM isn't consistently competing for championships so who the frick knows what your cognitive situation is right now.
Posted on 2/19/18 at 11:13 am to ell_13
I’m done you and the other tools keep trying to turn this into a Smoke vs CPM argument. You couldn’t refute my original post or any of the facts so you’ve derailed the thread. Pathetic
Posted on 2/19/18 at 11:14 am to ell_13
He’s not consistently competing for titles. You just contradicted yourself again.

Then why bring up 4-5 players who were in high school in Smoke's last year to show Mainieri didn't inherit a program in shambles?

what stats did you post?

When there aren't any players left from those teams when the new coach takes over, it's irrelevant. What's relevant is the shape of the program and the roster when Mainieri actually started coaching at LSU.

You’re right in 2011 we were on deaths doorstep too lmao
