Gaines played twice as much, had extremely impactful moments during the season
One game.
He had one good game.

You have 1 year of Pinson & he has yet to improve as a player over 3 years.
In basketball, you only worry about your roster one year at a time. With draft selections and portal transfers, it is absolutely FOOLISH and a dereliction of duty for a coach to try to reserve spots on his current year roster based on what next year could look like. Even if it costs you a guy with 3 years left, you take an upgrade for this season. It's how college basketball has evolved, and the coaches succeeding are the ones who are taking advantage of that fact.

Oof our basketball fans are so far behind and ignorant it’s amazing but I guess when you start watching 2 years ago and think you know something this is what you get. It gives me no pleasure to say this but Lester and Pirate King are absolutely right here. Anybody who’s seen Cook play and knows the game knows he’s better than Gaines overall and a much better point guard. Kick and scream all you want but we lost another good point guard last year who wasn’t as good as Cook and he went on to average 19.1ppg and 5.1apg but sure since Wade didn’t play him he must suck right? Nobody is saying Bishop or Cook should’ve played before Smart but go look at our +/- in the final 4 minutes of halves, especially the first and we’re Probly -50 to 75 points on the season because he was attempting to get 40 minutes out of 4 guys and we burned out towards the end of halves. The Michigan game is a perfect example of this.

I'm not doubting your opinion but if you are correct, Cook should average at least 20 pts a game, wherever he lands next season.
I've never heard Coach say anything but nice things about Cook. He said Cook was undervalued by recruiting services.

The whole reason cook is leaving is because he wasn't even given a chance to prove himself.
I think cook is def a loss and I'm not sold on gaines. Gaines is quick and long but can he shoot.
Cook had that it factor to me and wade should've played him more.

I told you dumbasses last month that he was leaving because of dumb statements like this. This board has convinced him and his family that he is the next Chris Jackson. Meanwhile, let's ignore the fact that he has no future at the next level in this sport and he should be getting ready for the spring game tomorrow.

He really showed "IT" vs. Nichols and La Tech

WHAT!?
I was going to type out a long and statistical post but it doesn't matter. Because the fact is that you're wrong. You're wrong because only one player is leaving the program. Which means the guy that is better at evaluating talent, better at coaching, better at EVERYTHING basketball related than you made his decision. So...you're wrong. You're not even arguing with me, you're trying to argue why Will Wade is wrong, which is a losing battle. You're just digging yourself deeper

This is where we are
We are at a situation where we are now saying we lost a key player in James Bishop.

he was attempting to get 40 minutes out of 4 guys and we burned out towards the end of halves. The Michigan game is a perfect example of this.
That being said, he's currently still in the "Better than Trent Johnson and Johnny Joneshoyang" category.
"Better Than" doesn't mean great or elite in any sense of the word.
Very good Recruiter; but he never played the game, is a "Mediocre at Best" in-game coach, his Offense is "Street Ballish" in nature and the Defense is non-existent.
I don't think he's on the same level as Eric Musselman. (My #1 choice to replace Hoyang) Musselman is building a powerhouse at Arkansas and has already surpassed LSU in year 2. (And yes, I know that we beat them twice this season)
Look at the projections of the 2 programs and it's not close. (2 time NBA HC vs somebody that has never even played high school basketball)
What you see is what you get. Is "Better Than" good enough and acceptable at LSU currently?

Lol James Bishop just averaged 19.1ppg and 5.1assist. Amazing how ignorant you guys are.

I’m a Wade fan too and I’ll take a guy at his age getting the results he’s getting but if he’s gonna advance or be a consistent threat he’s gotta shed some of the bad trends we’re experiencing. He’s gotta value bigs and play them when he has them because if you look at every team who’s “in it” they protect the circle and score in the circle. He’s gotta get rid of this want to half court trap and play zone because with the new rules it doesn’t work. He’s gotta learn to trust his bench more and play portions of the game defensively to get his scorers rest. And he’s gotta quit wasting years converting 2 guards into point guards. We waste and lose too much ground while this process is playing out and we’ll never get good seeds dropping games that way.

Practice?

By giving them playing time and having others play better

Agreed..but for the Cam sycophants...playing 21 less minutes per game...Gaines averaged 1.2 assists...with Cam at 1.4.

I don’t dislike Gaines
I expect more of a Garrett Temple type impact than ja Morant tho

I never said you did...
A high energy, team oriented player like Temple is a great example. If he stays with the program like Temple..who knows how far he can go?
