How does Wade conclude that guys just can’t play?

Jalen Cook was highly recruited. He hardly saw the court. Wade clearly concluded he can’t play. Cook is transferring.
Josh Gray was highly recruited. Same deal.
There have been others. He just decides that guys can’t play. With all these starters leaving, what you don’t see is Wade saying it’s time for the young guys on the bench to step up. He seems to be looking elsewhere.

Oh I don’t know. How would any head coach ever determine a player isn’t good enough. Maybe fricking practice??

I thought Cook and especially Gray were always more projects than immediate contributors.

Good point. Coaches should hold fake games in between actual games and in the off-season (maybe half of them team vs the other half of them team or something?) to determine this in the future

I feel like Cook is his first big loss
Who else left on Wade’s terms that prospered
All that being said, Wade is a good recruiter who happens to build weird rosters.
There’s no way you trade 3 years of Cook for 1 year of this pinson guy
I hate to lose Cook but really hope his transfer was the reason they reached out to pinson

So you believe all these players from around the country are in the transfer portal because their coach decided they can't play.
Maybe the players decided they didn't fit. They believe they could better compete with a new team.

Well if they getting dominated in practice then that probably factors in. Cook just looked small on the floor, if you’re small you better be Kira Lewis fast and Cook isn’t. Gray definitely had the size but he was “ soft “ for a big man
