If you boo your own team you are not considered a true fan.

What if your team is really bad?

A- Can tell you about every scholarship player on the team from the moment he was recruited and spends hours on message boards. Doesn't go to any games live or spend money on LSU sports.
This is the definition of somebody who needs to get a life.

First off you actually graduated from the University. 95% here didn't from observing their posts
And what bearing does that have on being a fan?

Real fans stay till the end of the game. The players deserve that.
I've never understood why people go to the trouble of going to an LSU game to leave early. It's about the game and the team. Do you stop watching a game on TV early win or lose? It's strange to me when people claim to be avid fans, but they can't sit through an entire game regardless of how the team is doing. If you can't handle traffic, don't go to games.

I'm a true fan.........self proclaimed. I meet all of my own criteria
I dont care about the rest of you people. life is more enjoyable this way

First off, I hate this discussion about who is a "true fan." There are so many different criteria that matter differently to different people.
I'd simply argue that a true fan is someone who is emotionally invested in the team.
Doesn't matter if they love the coach or hate the coach, if they have season tickets, make financial contributions, travel to games, stay until the end of the game, yell a lot, yell a little, have a bumper sticker on their car, etc.

Comparing your Fandom or claiming you're such a better fan than someone else is one of the lamest things sports fans do.

people can do what they want. Everyone has different ways of enjoying the games. Why do you require that everyone do it your way?
Maybe they value the tailgating more than the actual game, and got up at the crack of dawn to come tailgate and have a long drive home and don't care to sit in hours of traffic to get home at 3am.
Let everyone do it their own way. It doesn't make them any less of a "true fan" that you.

What about those whose loyalties are to Coach Miles and LSU?
Last I saw he was our coach

Easily, they're the ones that have a look of total disbelief when they loose. Want to fire the coach, A.D., find some players that know how to play football, get a whole damn new staff. Then go out the following week and yell their fool heads off until they loose their voice chanting Geaux Tigers! Or better yet they spend countless hours on some rant board Sunshine pumping negatigers til their heads explode, saying there is always next week, next year. These people "care" about the program, they are the "fan". If they are not a fan they're at the Library reading a book about " Crosstitching for Dummies". Oh by the way... Geaux Tigers!

I don't think staying until the end of the game is what makes you a true fan exactly. It's showing support for your team whether they win or lose. Staying until the end is supposed to be a representation of that. People who only support their team when they are winning would be "bandwagon fans".

A true fan is one who for 3 hrs on game day wants LSU to win whatever game they are playing no matter the HC or QB or OC or anything else.
Winning takes priority for a true fan and everything else comes in a distant 2nd. After that 3 hrs., each to our own.

Willis you don't have to Like Les Miles, not every body has good sense, but you have to realize that good fans encourage the team, not ruin recruiting which is the life blood of every college team and supporting the coaching staff is part of that being a good fan !
Posted on 12/8/15 at 2:03 pm to trombonetiger
For one thing, true fans don't suggest, recommend or support a player transferring to another team just because he isn't getting the snaps that others are. I see that all the time here.

I don't require anything.

Not fans, then. They are fans of tailgating, not the Tigers.
