How do you prep frosh QBs, scout SEC Ds while simplifying your own?

Seems like film study would only go so far with inexperienced guys under center — you’d think it would be important to expose them to a few different looks in practice.
Good chance I have no idea what I’m talking about, but it seems like emphasis on dumbing down your defensive scheme (on top of lacking defensive depth behind the line of scrimmage) would make that especially challenging.
I guess a more generalized version of the question would be “can catastrophic-level defensive struggles hamper a team’s ability to develop young QBs mid-season?”

Not having him think too much is a good start.

I can’t tell if this is a jab at me thinking too much or if you’re saying you think it might actually be beneficial

The latter.
Secure the handoff, just find the open guy, be careful with the ball.
Too much at once and we Jarrett Lee the two of them.

Fair point. They’re going to have to simplify across the board, so maybe that’s actually good synergy + we wind up with some solid fundamental football.
That might not play well against the top-tier, but I would think we matchup well against sCar

Do know what a scout team is? That is the team that simulates the weeks opponent.

Yes, that’s largely the point of the thread — maybe the title edit will make it less confusing. I didn’t word it well.

Recipe is going to be running the ball and slowing the game down now. Gotta get them easy throws early and get whoever starts in a rhythm.

This is why you have analysts. And the simplification is disappointing. Inexperienced players and no spring I guess understandable.
We are not talking rocket science here.
Our lineman winning one on ones is more important and less understandable
Letting the Missouri QB have 4 and 5 seconds to throw makes coverage pretty tough.
