Yea, position specific agents would have that info…though I’m not so sure an SEC school would be moved by what another is paying.

Schools are ‘offering’ profit sharing already…although we obviously aren’t there yet. Be interesting to see if they honor that with NIL if profit sharing doesn’t go further this fall.

Since players can leave anytime to get more money, every school should just pay by the accomplishment using stats. For example, in baseball each hit gets you this much, clutch hit this much, putout this much, and so forth. If you are on the bench you get a baseline minimum, or go to a team where you’re good enough to get on the field. The teams that pay more will still have the better teams, but it will allow the schools to not pay ridiculous amounts to a few kids who may not live up to potential.

$50k - 100k IS the other 85%. If you’re a starter in a big conference that seems par.

Starters in small conferences are getting that, for power 5 it's > 6 figures

Guess it depends on how many starters there are on SEC teams…most of the people on an SEC team, and a lot of those who see the field, make less than $100k/yr. The players who aren’t expected to see the field are crazy low, like $5-10k/yr with profit sharing added in.

Are we supposed to feel bad for the LSU athlete that gets top notch training facilities, custom meal plans, room and board, free tuition and tutoring all while getting a nice stipend now with the tv revenue sharing?

Yeah, not me.

My son is graduating high school with a weighted 4.0 and a 34 ACT but because competition at his college choice is so competitive, he's not even in the top 10% and thus no scholarship assistance. So, we're about to shell out $140k over the next for years for his education. Not interested in feeling bad for the lesser student/superior athlete getting all of that PLUS for free.

Crazy how hard it is to enter as an exceptionally qualified student at UGA or UF. Each school has these cool acceptance graphs:

Georgia 27-32 (25th-75th %tile) ACT

Florida 28-33 (25th-75th %tile) ACT

The value out of high school isn't the same value out of the portal, which I think is what the OP is eluding to.

If you're a starter at Troy, for example, you'll have offers in excess of $50k from places like Tulane, UCF, South Florida.

If you're a starter in a power 5 school, it' in excess of $100k.
