You can't reason with these people. If Burrow had another year of eligibility there would be people on here arguing that he could benefit from coming back another year, even after winning the Heisman and being the #1 draft pick. They can't separate their fandom of LSU from reality.

Yeah. Blowing your leverage for a chance at Omaha especially as a P getting drafted by a great club at developing P like the Yankees.

Pretty much anyone taken in the 10 rounds had a verbal agreement about a number. Teams are penalized for not signing a guy in the Top 10 rounds.

But, the ones that don’t understand can believe what they want to believe. I think only 2 guys didn’t sign last year in the Top 10 rounds, Rocker was one because of a medical concern.

What people aren’t understanding is that the teams are coming to terms with these players before they make the selection to make sure they can sign them.

Like y’all are saying, most of these picks in the 4-10 rounds are pre-negotiated to a certain extent. The teams are often passing on better player, like many of the high schoolers coming to BR, because they know those kid’s bottom $$$.

It’s not the old days. It’s a done deal when it happens most of the time now. I.e. Tucker Toman. He was not the 77th best player in this draft but once he fell passed a certain point teams weren’t going to touch him because they knew he wouldn’t sign for what they had to offer. By all accounts the deal with the Jays was done mid second round, 20-30 picks before.

Well he said he wished he had another year

But baseball is a different animal. Most of these guys will never get called up.

That’s certainly not how they approach their careers, I’m sure.

Why are people down voting this post? This is fact, not his opinion.

Why are you worried about a 14/4 ratio?

Which is why they leave early while they have leverage and can get a good signing bonus.
