Wow - he has a live arm, but zero accuracy.

Must have been a running QB in High School, because he certainly can't throw it accurately.

Can cameron wanted a guy who would stay 5 years

LSU wanted his teammate Demarkus Lodge

Needed a QB, no one interested in LSU, and he was teammate of the WR that chose Ole Miss (Lodge, I think).

Trying to get Demarkus Lodge

He was teammates with a much more highly recruited receiver named Demarkus Lodge, I think was the kids name. He ended up going to ole miss.
I think it was an attempt to lure the receiver but maybe the quarterback evaluation was really just that bad.

coaches were drunk while choosing him.

I know he set some records or at minimum blew out the stat sheet in Texas his senior year. I forget the details.

He also won like two state championships in Texas.
Pull up any recruiting class in the past 10 years, look at the top 50 QB's and see how many names you recognize. It won't be many.

He was a consensus 4-star recruit out of HS

He ranged from a 2 to low 3 star

Because he is a badass and a winner.
Plus we were trying to get Lodge so why not take his QB.

I was downvoted to holy hell, but I posted after seeing his team get beat in the playoffs his senior year saying I hah no idea how that guy is going to play QB in the SEC. good athlete, but not a SEC caliber QB

I actually used to live in Cedar Hill, TX, and had just moved away as Justin's (and DeMarkus's) recruitment was heating up. He was a good high school QB who won two state titles in the highest level in Texas. That's serious skins on the wall. He was mobile, sure, but they had a beastmode running back so Justin's main job was getting the ball to his wideouts. He did that extremely well. Sure DeMarkus made him look even better, but it's not like he was a nobody just propped up by his teammates. Kid was a good QB. He wasn't terrible at LSU either. He doesn't have the accuracy you want to see at this level and the next, but he's a hard worker, good dude, and a decent enough QB. I'm glad he's getting his chance to shine at Tulane.

I had checked the score early in the game and I thought the game was locked for Houston. Wtf happened?
