He took a leadership role and practiced wth the receivers.
He studied film and prepared himself.
Fact that many on this board made fun of him, he believed in himself.
He did what leaders do, he made himself ready for his chance.
He didn't wait for someone to tell him, he just did it.

Now THIS is one of the best comments I've read. It might be true.

I believe they knew Etling was about to overtake Harris job. That's why practice was closed.
Miles gave him a chance to keep his job vs Wisconsin, and he failed.
Miles gave him a chance to salvage his job in the 1st qtr vs Jacksonville St he failed.
Enter Etling and poof-pow instant offense. I can't buy that, he looked like the starter. He has the offense down and he will get much better with each game.
I have to give miles credit he was more than fair to Harris and that's why top notch players sign with LSU. Miles is more than fair to his players. Most coaches would have started Etling out the gate but miles knew the hard work Harris had put in all summer. I know he regrets not sending Etling in vs Wisconsin.

Same reason Mettenburger didn't get any measurable playing time in 2011, despite him being better than JJ and JL.
He didn't get playing time because he came in with a shitty attitude and had some issues in the classroom.

Because of doofus and rufus Miles & Cam
Why Cam does not overrule Miles and say Etling is better and let me control the offense? He knows dam well who was better all along. It seems Miles could not and would not fire Cam right before the season or during fall camp. Since this could be Miles last year Cam and a few other coaches (Heck-all of them) could have cornered Miles and said we will save your job, so get the frick out of our way and we will go undefeated!! Talk about lame duck, however those pictures must be circulting

Right, which is why this is the first year they had closed practices.
I swear, some of the shite you people come up with on here.

Sure. It's been widely reported that Harris is a beast at practice. Les made the easy decision to start the guy that looks good in practice and had a year of starting in the SEC under his belt. The staff hoped it would transfer to games, but it clearly hasn't. It's that easy.
They close practice every year, this is nothing new.

As I recalled they let the media in for a brief view of practice before this season. The media was not allowed at all this year. First time it has happened in les miles's tenure.

That's wrong. They got to go to a few early practices. Mascona talked about it leading into week one.
ETA: Just like they do every year.

Practice is just throw to the initial receiver for the play that is called, BH doesn't have to read his progressions.

Well, it's been reported all over the place. Sorry the truth doesn't fit your narrative.

So has the fact that Harris continued to have accuracy issues, even from non insiders at the passing academy, who have less incentive to talk coach speak.
This is supported by direct evidence that we have seen by his performance. How's that truth for you?

Makes sense. I've given up trying to understand what our coaches are doing.

And how quickly did he get yanked out of his job?
