I thought Chavis was terrible? That's what the rant kept telling me.

They didn't have Rashard shutting down Evans.

I'm convinced JFF was significantly injured last night. He was awful throwing the ball and seldom scrambled to make plays. Kudos to our D but something wasnt right.

Florida and LSU set the blueprint for stopping him last year. I don't understand why other teams couldn't copy it.

That's what's amazing. You hear that he runs the same outdated scheme that he's run for 15 years, yet twice now his outdated scheme has shutdown one of the best players in football in one of the most modern uptempo/spread offenses.

looked like a different defense last night from what we have seen all season. Looked faster, more talented and better coached than before.

lolwut? He was placing nice balls all day. If anything WRs had a severe case of the drops.
And anyone saying he didn't scramble as much, we're you watching the same game? Dude routinely scrambled for firsts on third and longs like it was no big deal

Sabans really not the genius he is made out to be by some of the folks that post on here. Take away the great talent that he has to work with and give him average talent, and you would get average results. Chavis is a much better d coach than saban, just not the recruiter that saban is (no one it the recruiter that saban is)

I think the weather affected him, and LSU played their best game by far on Defense. They also did not try to attack the middle enough.

The A&M offense called only six rushing plays for someone not named Manziel, and I imagine a combined less 10 running calls including Manziel.

A&M's game plan was God awful.

SIX RUSHING ATTEMPTS! SIX! LSU had four different backs carry the ball at least eight teams.

Tigers were better prepared for this one.
Great job of coaching and player execution

A&M was outcoached in all phases.

This is also a very shitty excuse. I don't recall a single instance it directly benefitted LSU, but I can for aTm. Their only TD came on a busted coverage when Tre White slipped and fell. So if anything, the rain helped give Manziel his one and only TD against LSU in two games.

Certain defensive schemes are better tooled to stop certain offenses. Some teams are more physical, and others try to out-quick their opponent. Whichever team recruits the best for his scheme usually wins.
But when a defense loses most of it's dominant players in one year, it's very difficult to coach up the replacements before the season starts. What happened to LSU was that we lost all of it's dominant starters and missed on a few evaluations in the same time frame...
