im worried about how storm has gone silent the last couple of games. he showed up in the second half yesterday but if he had stayed on the court for 5 mor eminutes last tuesday we win that game. also what is really fricking with this team is we have no more sparkplug. harris' back injury must be bothering him because he hasnt provided that spark since we got back from new york. we need the team that beat wku to show up more often, thats the team most of us wanted to see, overcome limitations on offense by defending and rebounding, let the offense come.

the rebounding was awful last night and Bass looked like he was guarding Fortson. Neither Bass or Spencer look good guarding the point. Bass always picks up his dribble 10 feet from the arc and isn't a threat at all to shoot, let alone make it.

yeah rebounding was the key for them to even have a chance last night. in the second half once xavier started hitting their threes it was way over. we aren't good at defending the pick and roll, cant get through the pick. bass needs to just take it to the rack one of these days and see what happens. that or shoot a 30 foot three pointer a la spencer and hope it goes in so the defense will be like, aw shite look at that.

Spencer was putrid in the first half. When he got to the basket in the second half, look what happened.

our front court will def be the strength of the team next year. but i still cant see us running our offense through those guys

and counting on FR to score the ball is always tricky.

Bo has proved he cant be a go to guy. And next year i really dont see a player in the backcourt he can play off of like he did so well with Thornton last year

I'm late to this thread and most people have covered everything, but I will throw my two cents in.

Not only am I not worried, but I am actually encouraged by this season. This season is a result of a coach that is building a long-term program. He could have easily come in here and signed a bunch of junior college players and players with questionable academics/attitudes and probably we would be better this year.

However, he was late to the recruiting game when he was hired and signed the best player in Louisiana (Ludwig) in an admittedly horrid year for instate talent. (This year is just as bad). He also signed a player from the West Coast that he was in on at Stanford (Dotson). He elected to save his scholarships for this year when he would have a full year to establish relationships, rather than burn them on lower-level or junior college players. That decision has resulted in a recruiting class of 4 players that is ranked in the top 20 on Rivals and Top 10 on ESPN. This does not include Ole Miss transfer Malcolm White, who may the best of all of them.

The struggles this year are a result of these decisions. But despite these struggles, I have seen improvement in Garrett Green and Eddie Ludwig. Storm Warren has excelled at times. Bo Spencer is trying to do too much, because we don't have much else. Taz needs to take over more.

Next season will be much better, because we will have a true post player (White), Storm will be able to concentrate on PF because of White, we will have much improved guard play. The main question is SF. If Derenbecker can step in and score some points, it will be a good year.

Trent Johnson has been the Coach of the Year in three conferences. The guy is the real deal. Give him a break.

Billy Donovan had a losing record after two seasons at Florida before he turned the Gators around.

..well, uhhhh....we have, like, two decent players....duhh...
...be concerned, be very concerned...

....on the other hand, we should expect this is really not gonna be our year as we are in rebuilding mode big time....we just don't have any "re-built" happening THIS year...

Lots of fans are kinda 'flighty' like a bird..nearest sign of an issue and their confidence takes off, hides in a tree, and squirts.

how sure are we that this will work long time?

Nobody can be sure. It's way too early to tell.

The score is less important than how we play. I haven't seen us play yet, so I don't know, but we could be in good shape down the road even if we are losing today, just as a team could be in bad shape down the road even if it is winning today.

let me add that i think jalen courtney will be a really good player for LSU. have the same feeling about him i did about storm warren. storm is going to be fine, just hope the team has it together upstairs for utah, after losing a heartbreaker then getting dusted at xavier its easy to have your confidence shaken but i dont think we should worry too much about that with the character of this team and coaching staff.

sure is, just look at dotson this year. thought for sure we'd be getting in the neighborhood of 9/10 ppg right now but he is struggling. i was always told he wasnt much of a shooter outside 16-18 feet when talking about a dotson v thornton comparison. thornton is obviously a much better long range shooter and scorer but what ive seen out of dotson is he has a feel for getting to the basket with the dribble drive or getting into the lane and putting up a floater, once those shots start to fall i feel confident his game will start to come around as long as he is healthy. i do believe derenbecker, turner and stringer are all better three point shooters though. especially ralston turner. if those guys can chip in next year it should balance things out as far as not needing to have a guy put up 20 a night for us to have a chance to win games, still think any given night storm or white can go off down low but it will take guys on the perimeter doing their jobs to make it work.

S, you think there's any chance Stringer starts next year and Dotson or Spencer come off the bench? Or might we go 3 guards with Stringer, Dotson, and Spencer with Derenbecker coming off the bench? Lots of possible lineups. Wouldn't mind seeing Stringer get lots of early minutes.

I wonder if our thin fanbase has all of a sudden gotten spoiled after winning the SEC based on some of these posts.

stringer can play right away no doubt. im interested to see what goes on with dotson's knee, trent apparently wanted to redshirt him this year, maybe he does that next year. id almost bet money that ludwig takes a redshrit next year. i could see dotson coming off the bench though, bo starting at the 2 assuming trent trusts stringer to start from day 1. i doubt farrer is gonna be back so i guess either kinsley or derenbecker is going to play a lot at the 3, dotson can play there too. some of it i guess will be determined by match ups too, we've shuffled our starting lineups quite a bit this season already. tell cbass to get in the gym and work on that three.
