How come Tre Morgan did not make Team USA?

He got sick right before Cap Code and decided to stay home for summer and train in New Orleans

Morgan was listed on the cape cod roster as both an OF and IF at different points, but he never stepped on the field, so we don’t know what he’s playing this summer

Gilbert is also listed as a pitcher. I wonder if Vitello plans to pitch him more next season.

I can get an answer to that this weekend.
He threw him more as a freshman when he wasn’t a full time player in the field. I’m guessing as other pitchers stepped up and his role in the outfield increased, they decided to step back from it.
I could see them going full on Mark Kotsay next year though in an effort to keep the excitement rolling with a mostly new line up.
