I wasn't expecting the staff to be as great as it was last year, but we still had several guys coming back that had been effective in the past.

Even up until a few weeks ago for the most part the staff was at least competitive if not effective. Part of it has to do with a weak OOC schedule, but they looked much better against good teams like Arkansas and that was even without AR. What could possibly have happened to get to where we are now? It is like a switch was flippepd and now nobody can get outs.

agreed with weak schedule in PM era. Guy really is a pussy for not playing big name teams out of conference at least every OTHER year. at least Laval, Bertman, Lamabe, and even Smith played OOC big name teams. Classic case of LSU greed and hoping 99 home game swill carry you to super regional every year!
Hell he doesn't even play BIG names like Virgina, UNC, Arizona, Texas, CSF in Pontiff classic anymore.

I question Grewes ability to correct mechanics during games. Most of it rests with the kids not being able to locate consistently or having the stuff to get the key strikeout when needed.

The "stuff" can't be changed in season , but it would be nice to see a kid throwing everything up get a visit from the pitching coach and correct the problem that inning...or at least the next.

Kind of see where you are going with the OCC schedule but with the SEC schedule we play plenty of tough teams. And Ole Miss and Florida on the road this year is about as tough as it gets. Only things worse would have been to throw South Carolina in the mix.

LSU has been told by the AD that we have to play a certain number of home game a year (37-38) to help pay for the new stadium. That makes it almost impossible to play good non-conference teams because they are going to want a return trip. We are lucky that we got Fullerton coming in here next year because they said it was OK if we didn't go out there. And you are not going to get a big name team to come down to New Orleans for single mid-week game in the middle of conference season.

I have seen that mentioned before, about our weak scheduling, but I don't look at that as a real problem. Everyone knew going into this season that with Coleman gone, someone was going to really have to 'step up' as a 2nd starter, and that simply hasn't happended. To make matters worse, AR got hurt, & now seems to have an issue- not sure if it is a mental block or a mechanics issue...Add it up, & the picture looks bleak for a post-season run...

I didn't mean the early schedule is the reason we are struggling, just that it played a part in skewing the numbers early in the season. The staff wasn't as good as it may have looked early, but at the same time it is hard to believe it can actually be as bad as it has looked the last couple weeks.

Classic case of a moronic idiot or an imbecilic buffoon spouting baseless garbage. They played a 2009 CWS team in the PC and they've had two devastating injuries to overcome. All major college baseball programs play the vast majority of their regular season games at home. There now. That's an example of facts.
