Honestly if we lose to Bama but end up going running the table on everyone else. What will you think of the season?
I would think we did great, one game better than I picked us to be pre-season. Here's looking at 9-3.

How do you beat Aub, Bama, Ole Miss & Ark. without an offense?
You beat Auburn and Arky without a great offense, because their offense's suck, thats' how. People forget FLA had the #1 defense in the nation. Anyone who expected to score more than 17-20 points on them was just being delusional.

It is good unless you have 11-1 or 12-0 talent. Then it is under-acheiving.

I still say 9-3 if we get lucky.

"If?" I don't think we'll get a pass at Bama. And if we have no offense, our "D" isn't going to be enough to stem the Tide all by itself. Meanwhile we've got a pretty p-o'd Auburn to deal with in another week. They always love to take LSU down; and since Arky did them that same favor, Auburn will be especially pumped to pass that favor on to us.

To answer your question, 10-2 would be better than I could hope for at this point, and would go a long way to salvage what's left of this weird coaching season for me.

LSU remaining schedule:

vs Auburn - toss up
vs Tulane - win
@ Alabama - definite loss (they are a better team than us all around, no doubt)
vs LA Tech - win
@ Ole Miss - win (i say this because ole piss offense looks just as bad as ours, our D will win us this game)
vs Arkansas - toss up

No way this team goes 7-5 again. 8-4 at worst, 10-2 at best. beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa would be the upset of the century if it happened, but it wont. Alabama will control the clock with their running game just like a Florida and force our offense to beat them, which they wont. Considering most people predicted 8-4, 9-3, or 10-2 at best before the season, I'd say WE ARE WHO WE THOUGH WE WERE.

Here's to hopefully getting our shite together and going 10-2!

LSU remaining schedule:
Auburn will make a game of it and could win. The only nearly "sure" win I see is Tulane, but then this season LSU has consistently played "down" to the level of its weaker opponents. LA Tech is well-coached and motivated; yes LSU has all the talent in the world to beat them but... no offense is like sending half a team out there. Unless we see some rapid changes I can't say this sure win on paper is a sure win on the field. And Ole Miss is at home. Even when they suck and we're great, UM plays for keeps there. Not a sure win. We know what will happen at Bama and Arky has had our number the last two games. As we hit the meat of our schedule, including the two trap games, unless something big changes in our O and our D continues to be revived, we could be looking at a potential losing season (worst case scenario).

The quote you feature is not mine; you responded to my post. But since you mentioned it, have you watched LSU play this season? And Alabama?

At this point, I think it will take a miracle to beat Bama.

I think we beat Auburn.

I think we beat Ole Miss as Snead looks worse than JJ right now.

Arkansas is the one that scares me. I think if we give Arkansas a huge T.O.P. advantage that Mallet will pick us apart.

At the start of season many many fans predicted 9-3, 8-4, and some went 10-2, or 11-1.

Now every one of those predictions is still on the table as of right now. I still think 9-3 but the games will be a lot closer than I would have wanted.
Even Tulane/Tech do not look like 30+ point blow outs anymore but games the are closer than the actual score would indicate.

That said with this offense I would be ok with a 9-3 record still.

I understand the thinking here but I disagree. Recall leading into 2004 people considered our 11-1 or 12-0 type talent to be so overwhelming we were going to do that well despite an obvious question mark at quarterback. Obviously we finished 2004 9-3 (probably the record we deserved considering a close game or two went both ways).

My point is if you have a major area of weakness on a team you are going to need a lot of good luck to run up an 11 plus win season. And I would therefore consider 2009 LSU fortunate to finish out 10-2 if we don't see improvement at the QB position especially (and OL to some extent)

Regarding quarterback play my bias is we have two young quarterbacks with issues - JL must not be outplaying JJ in practice and JJ may have been too worried about making mistakes to be more aggressive against Florida. Hopefully he regains some confidence and we take advantage of the mismatches Lafell, RR, and TT are able to create

I think you are oversimplifying the problems we are having while overstating them at the same time.

This team has a pretty good shot at being 9-3 IMO. That's where most reasonable people thought they would be.

There is plenty of season left. To think LSU can't put it together and beat Auburn is pretty ridiculous, IMO.

People say we have 12-0 talent while ignoring the young QB and poor OL. Those are by far the two most important aspects of any offense.

There is a better chance of us beating Alabama than us losing to La Tech.
