I, too, was surprised that the Chronicle's headline said shine. I think the Chronicle loves our hometown boy.

yeah, but, their q.b.'s had some of the worst mechanics/accuracy that i have seen.

Should have read, Barkley shines. USC inks another future NFL 1st round Draft pick.

within the article, it says: 'Cypress Ridge quarterback Russell Shepard shined the brightest among the local players in the game.'

anyway, if you account for the 2 touchdowns on your side, that's not too far fetched to say that you shined.

the most important thing is that he did not get hurt

I think they played equally well. Had about the same amount of yards, Shepard was definitely on the less talented team. They couldn't block worth a damn, for instance the extra point and field goal. Nor did they block for Russell, I saw him get hit multiple times due to bad blocking. Barkley also got more PT than RS. I for one am glad, we got the better QB.

Yes really. No other QB threw a 92 yard TD pass.

barkleys td pass to keenad davis was the best pass of the game...no question

with decent cb play, RS's td pass to debose is broken up at the least

Shep was the only QB that scored TDs with the black team

I think the alternating QB's every series hurt Shep. Barkley played a lot, and played many back to back to back series. I agree that his o-line struggled, ESPECIALLY THE CENTER, it seemed to me as though he was picking up snaps from his feet the whole game. I thought he would be one of those guys that ran at the first sign of trouble, but he hung in the pocket, sometimes seemingly forever, and took a couple of knocks. All in all I was impressed, he'll get his shot at QB and that's all he's said he's wanted all along was a chance to prove what he can do.

As far as Barkley, he put up better stats, but threw at least a few more gimme picks that don't show up on the stat-line because they were dropped by the black defense. He threw a quick slant that the kid took for 71 yards. I'm not saying hes' not good, he is, but to those that think he's light years better as a QB need to quit looking at the stat line and watch the whole game. He made quite a few questionable throws that could have changed the game if anyone in the black secondary could catch.

Barkley didn't have to face Loston.

Just trying to see what it's like to be a homer.

I'm pretty sure those CB are the best at the HS level and will be playing DI ball next year. That is the whole purpose of the game.

that doesn't mean they are incapable of bad coverage

he was with debose and just misjudged the ball. it started out like good coverage, but ended up pretty bad

Shepard was ordered to throw the ball and not run with it. If he was allowed to run at will, that would have taken a lot of steam out of the pass rush and he would have had more time to throw the rock.

If anyone is down grading his potential on this game, then they are RANTard Clueless!
