He said they were one pitch away from winning game 1. I say we were one pitch away from tying game 2. We had the bases loaded twice I think? Not sure

To hold that LSU offense to ZERO earned runs is amazing. The fact a freshman did it makes it even more amazing.
I think after a very emotional win the night before, the Tigers approached this game differently and was not about to spend an all out emotional effort 2 nights in a row when they had Renaudo and most of the better pitchers ready for Wednesday. I would guess had they felt that Texas was packing it in, it may have been different. Just a thought.

Bottom line: LSU and TX both had great teams.
LSU won 2 games, TX won 1 game. LSU has the trophy in BR.
Whine all they want and it cant change a thing.

With all due respect. Damn this stuff is gettin' old! If...If...If my Aunt had a sac, she'd be my Uncle...Bottom line is LSU has the Championship Trophy tucked away safely in Baton Rouge. Texas has the Runner-Up Trophy propping a door open somewhere in Austin. Case Closed.

Rational Texas Fans, and good sports, but Steve is eaten up with it.
Yep. I like how they got onto him and mentioned Matty Leinart's comments following the Texas National Championship in football.
I've always liked Texas and we have a great rapport with their alumni here.

Yes, Catnip.
Baseball is very similar to chess and we saw two masters this week in Garrido and Mainieri with Mainieri winning.

Truth be known, all fan bases are pretty much alike. imo

i think its funny that they think a 5-1 win is a blow out on par with an 11-4 game.
Old school baseball would say no, any game that can be tied with one swing of the bat is not a blowout. Also, given the fact the Tigers severely blew chances to cut into the lead with poor execution takes away from the "blowout" description. That being said, it was still a very impressive, dominating performance by TJ. It's apples and oranges to compare the last two games, but as previously stated, only game three could be accurately described as a "blowout" victory.

I think Texas's game 2 win was superior to LSU's win in game 3. To hold that LSU offense to ZERO earned runs is amazing. The fact a freshman did it makes it even more amazing.
It was by far the best pitching performance of the series, but I wouldn't say the win overall was more impressive. Just a great individual performance. The other thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that LSU won that series when LSU's stars had subpar or terrible performances. Coleman and Ranaudo both pitched two of their worst games all year. Ross was terrible. Dean was pretty terrible, and Schimpf was average at best. And yet LSU still won the series.

First, it was two out of three. We won 2 they won 1.
Second, we beat them in game one in a come from behind win with a key hit and runners on base. Our closer shut them down. Their closer never shut us down at any point in the series.
Third, when Texas came from behind in two games to win in the ninth Steve views them as clearly the better team than USM or ASU.
Fourth, Against USM they should have lost. They won in the ninth on a walk off walk after 2 batters had been walked and one had been HBP. Not one single hit. I would say that was unearned. And this against one of the lowest if not the lowest seed in the tournament.
FifthIn game 3 Texas was shut down in the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th by three different LSU pitchers. The starter whose stuff they had seen for 6 and 1/3 innings, One who is a reliever with not a lot of experience yet and one whose stuff they had seen plenty of in Game 1 but couldn't do anything with him in Game 3.
This is a case of Steve just trying to make himself feel better.
Nuff said.
