21.5 is a suckers bet. You should take Alabama. If the line was 20.5, take LSU. The .5 on 3, 7, 14 and 21 is Vegas luring the suckers in. According to the oddsmaker, you have a 25% chance of winning.

Are you saying that, according to the oddsmaker, LSU has a 25% chance of winning straight up, or that the bettor with 21.5 points has a 25% chance of winning his bet? I'd be very surprised to learn that 21.5 point favorites cover the spread 75% of the time.

I get that it is a way to get more action adding the .5. but regardless it is better to take LSU to cover at 21.5 than 21. If LSU loses by 3 TD's it went from a push to a win for those betting on LSU to cover. I also don't think there is a 75% chance that Bama beats us by MORE than 3 TD's.

The hook won't matter. This is the year Bama shows LSU who's bigger badder and better coached. LSU won't keep it close this year.
