Hope that ND does not slip into the playoffs.

I fear it will result in much more negative exposure for Coach Kelly and our program over the next month.

But it is looking more likely with Baylor currently dominating Oklahoma State. If UGA beats Bama, I presume ND will be the fourth playoff team.

ESPN will push ND in to have Freeman coach. It’s their MO.

It'll be our fault either way. If ND gets in, why didn't BK stay for them? If ND doesn't get in, they could have if BK stayed. Just be ready for it.

Like a MSB poster said, then we get to say we hired the coach that put them in that spot and explain why BK left when UGA pushes their shite in when Freeman has to actually coach

Aren’t you forgetting about Cincy? They beat ND and are ahead of them. ND getting in means at least a Baylor win with a Bama and Cincy loss

Which would be very dumb considering him staying or leaving wouldn’t have changed anything

There is no negative exposure. He makes it and he’s a championship program builder. If he doesn’t, they couldn’t do it without him. The recruiting narrative will adjust accordingly.

The committee has admitted that they do consider coaching changes, so it's dumb, but it'll be the narrative.

No. I don't think that is correct. ND is currently 6. Only two teams ahead of them have to lose. If Bama and Oklahoma State lose, they are in alongside UGA, Cincy, and UM.

It’d be another CFP birth for ND by Kelly.

ND is going to get in with a Baylor and Georgia win, no question. But the worst case is if they pull an upset and win the title. Then Kelly will be a laughing stock.

Guess we need 2 SEC teams playing then.
Disdain for ND greater than for AL right now.

Why Kelly would then have as many appearances (3) and wins (0) as Riley

Man shut up what the hell does ESPN and freeman have to do with this? ND has ties to NBC. Y’all just say anything to try and tie something to race

Unless the committee jumps Baylor over ND as a conference champ that has played one more game

Nah, the key from this point forward is simply to know it's there and more over know it's gonna be there, and pay it no mind. But of significant import is to somehow signify the fans' support of Coach as well as signify that we truly don't give a shite. And be good at that. I'd like to say a unified front on tRant would be swell, but that's alien humor.

Notre Dame getting in would make Kelly's departure the most notorious in college sports history. It will surround him with tremendous negativity for the next several weeks while he tries to assemble a staff. Top-notch assistants with options may balk at being associated with Kelly given this development. This will be a problem for LSU.

Anyone who thinks Kelly would get any "credit" for this Notre Dame team's success - from the media, other coaches, players, or recruits - is delusional. Notre Dame will become a public darling to spite Kelly.

I kind of want it to happen. If ND sneaks into the playoffs and gets blown out as I would expect, it further proves Kelly’s point of why he left to realistically pursue a championship. If they sneak in and win… well then I’m not as excited about our hire. But that ain’t happenin
