Of course we care. We all desperately want football to happen. But that still doesn't make it "essential."

You can call it fear and I can call it common sense. Hopefully, the people who will make the decisions will listen to science and make the best decision (compromise) for all interests, not just the selfish ones!

I'll gladly shut the frick up if it encourages a few more fools to make more room for the rest of us! Will you shut the frick up if you bury someone close to you who didn't have to die?

For what it's worth, I hope there is a football season this fall, if it can be done reasonably safely.

I doubt this but I will play.

How low does the IFR have to be for "BigSlick" to approve of us playing a sport we have been playing for decades?

Didn’t you hear the rich NFL players say that football is non-essential

Yet I’m sure still want to be paid.

To the obvious point that football is absolutely essential to the survival of collegiate athletics and that no one is forcing the players to do anything they don't want

Which is why all the legit talent should bail on this abbreviated schedule and head straight to the draft

And I think you’re confused about which side is melting on a daily basis right now.

Yeah, the term snowflake much more accurately applies to conservative whiners right now. On Saints Talk, most of the posters whining about players’ opinions or whatever new thing they are butthurt about makes me think of that gif of the girl yelling at the air when Trump got elected.

Seems so called experts have been wildly off. We know that no season will kill many careers but do not know effect of covid effect. We need to let them play!

How have the experts been off? Nearly 140,000 dead. Thousands of hospitalizations. The virus is highly transmissible. The R number is only below 1 in about 7 states. You can’t equate college football careers with the health or lives of the general public.

How high does it have to be before we quit? How many needless deaths of high school and college football players are acceptable? 10...100...500...1,000...10,000? How many are you willing to see to satisfy your blood lust?

We all accept risks every day. We know there's always a chance we could get killed in an automobile accident a block from home, but autos have been around since, when, the late 1800s? We're familiar with the risk and accept it because we are comfortable with it. But nobody knows the full risk of COVID-19 and the trends are getting worse. We know that mass groupings tend to cause spikes in infection rates. It's apparently spread through most easily through air. How much would the risk increase for a group of athletes breathing heavily in close proximity to one another?

How many infections would occur among fans in the stands? You can talk about masks and temperatures all you want, but have you been to a Walmart lately? How many shoppers do you see without masks? Do you really believe masking could be enforced at games without starting riots?

If a kid catches it in a game and dies from it, will you just say "Well, ol' Fred's number just came up?" Or will you say "Gee, maybe that wasn't a good idea?" What if it's your kid?
