The food, atmosphere, and having the opportunity for the city as well as the whole state to come together to watch two traditional programs and awesome bands.

Only time I ever saw fights at UL tailgating is when Southern visited...

We should NOT be playing any 1AA schools. We’re LSU

Playing an HBCU that's in the same city as LSU and writing them a fat check is actually pretty important.

Not only for Southern but for LSU recruiting and optics as a whole. Try thinking outside the box once in a while.

LSU and who else?

Dude, it's Southern. It is in no way some sort of football tradition rich program.

Absurd logic. If your argument is to keep the money in state schedule Tulane, LA Tech, ULL, ULM. We do not need to play against FCS

From 1947-50, Southern went 34-0-2. So they’ve got that going for them, which is nice.

This is ok for 1 time but I do not want a steady diet of Grambling, Southern, Nichols, McNeese, Southeastern, or NW State. These are Division 2 schools and LSZ is not their Fund Raiser for their Athletic Department. There us no reason to play these teams on a rotating basis.

I don’t see where you got that was the logic of his argument/statement. He said it’s a good look to schedule a HBCU school, especially one in the same city.

There are numerous benefits to playing southern, but I’ll highlight a few:
1) we play a Louisiana team and keep the money in state;
2) the money southern receives will be spent on a program in dire need of financial assistance;
3) there isn’t much SOS difference in playing SU or ULL/ULM/Tulane;
4) we have played every instate team more recently/times than we have played SU;
5) the city itself benefits tremendously because there will be a higher turnout, aka more money, than our games against opponents such as New Mexico State.
