On the "late hit," I don't think I've ever seen a flag thrown so fast. In other words, the ref already had it out & was determined to throw it, regardless. He's probly thinking it isn't going to effect the outcome, but Cuse scored a TD after that.

Ritter has sucked for many years, now. The only team he does not overpenalize is Bama>

I was surprised that the Syracuse punter didn't get flagged after the fake punt when he punched the LSU player after getting a first down.
Yeah, it was accidental but the refs aren't really supposed to consider intent. How many targeting calls are not made because they were not intentional? Anyway, good discipline by LSU to not hit back.

Objectively, the refs had some trouble dealing with Syracuse's emotional scrappy underdog mentality.

It's been awhile since LSU was a significant home underdog, I don't remember if we got the same breaks. But they definitely did get some slack; I can think of 3 unsportsmanlike conduct calls that were not made.

1) the fake FG. Clearly, just an exuberant fist pump- but it made contact with our player, with a closed fist no less.
2) Harris out of bounds. He'd run out at about the same area they called us on the late hit, was stood up and stopped. Clearly out of bounds, really almost off the white boundary and into the sideline area. And then he goes down pretty forcefully right onto his back, maybe 2 seconds after the whistle.
3) We forced one of their WRs out of bounds, the guy was pretty frustrated. His leg swung out towards the db as he turned, in what definitely looked like a kick (he had been facing the other way, and when he turned he did a Jackie Chan roundhouse kick). No contact made. He then threw the ball back to the ref, about 5 yds away, pretty damn hard; not an underhand toss or anything like that. So using how hard he threw the ball as further evidence, I'd say the kick was intentional.

Which call against LSU should not have been called? Put aside they missed Cuse penalties, which ones called against us were bad calls?

Late hit out of bounds, 2 defensive PIs. That's a start. That's three 1st downs and 45 yards right there.

Debo Jones' "late hit" - the QB had faked running out of bounds multiple times in the game, it's not a penalty according to the letter of the law or the spirit.

Personal foul playing without a helmet - might be according to the letter of the law but it's a stupid law and shouldn't have been enforced.

Holding on Pocic.

That's 40 yards worth, or 1/3 of our penalty yardage right there. They also came at crucial points in the game and gave the orangemen chances to hang in there.

So that's a few calls that shouldn't have been called and changed the game.

Then there's just the actual stupid mistakes this team makes, which is 2/3 of our penalty yardage. So even with good refereeing we'd still be looking like fools.

I would like to see that analysis of # of calls in Ritter games versus other SEC refs. I would be shocked if we didn't have 30% more penalties on every game of ours that he calls.

No the hit was shown to be in bounds with the QB attempting to turn upfield.

Pocic call was garbage. Jeter call was tacky. Most were legit calls though.

Can also include a few missed calls.

bullshite... SCREW ALL LSU fans that agree with this... The dude got up and was celebrating.... If an LSU player had done the same and got called..YOU would be going crazy..... Again I will say this....

The only way to even somewhat please LSU fans is that they win EVERY game by 59-0 and the get ZERO Flags thrown on them and the other team gets like 20 flags and our QB completes EVERY pass.... And THEN you guys MAY be happy..

AND the way YOU fans act is that Ritter gets his crew together before every LSU game and tells them to call as many flags on LSU as they can...

AND IF Ritter was so against LSU he would have made sure they LOST yesterday...............

any call that negates a LF TD is a stupid penalty. that dude has right to be pissed at times in the game.

The pass interference call against Tolliver was aweful. He played perfect defense on that play. Les Miles never gets upset about penalties against LSU. Something I do like about him.

Fournette TD run. Both receivers checked with the refs then call a penalty inmediately

He did take a right cross to the facemask to loosen it up and then he knocked it off himself completely with his rip move.

I was outside Tiger Stadium about 5 years ago hanging out before the game. We hear this siren approaching and someone says that it's probably the referees. Immediately the lady next to me says "I hope it's not that bug-eyed dude." That was 5 years ago.

Last year, I watched Texas A&M play somebody (not LSU) at Kyle Field so I don't have a dog in the fight. And Ritter's crew is calling the game. So I tell myself to watch from a neutral perspective and not biased like I know I am when the Tigers play.

After watching the game, came to the conclusion that Ritter's crew is just bad. Like the Debo late hit call, his crew missed calls left and right. Just plain bad. And they missed stuff both ways.

Where I ended up was he is probably a good guy who is liked by the SEC so that's why he has lasted so like long. However, he and his crew are above their capability calling SEC football games. It's hard to tell a good person that there services aren't needed anymore. But someone at the SEC office (maybe Steve Shaw), needs to step up to the plate and move this crew along. They don't belong officiating in the SEC IMO.

No one is out to get LSU.

I completely agree with this statement. It's not about LSU or any other team. There is absolutely games being controlled by officials "on the take" to cover spreads that favor their pockets (and others.). I know this as a fact.

Back story...in the 1990's I used a book in Baton Rouge that had all bets processed through an SEC official "on the take". I was told point blank not to bet any games his crew worked. It was beyond obvious when I watched the games his crew worked. I don't care who believes me....it's a fact. I don't bet college spreads anymore...no way.

That game yesterday was called to favor bets placed on Syracuse. Book it all day long. Ask most of the betters on TD where their money was placed. It wasn't on Syracuse. Figure it out folks. The big money yesterday went to the books.
