He better keep winning. He will re awaken a sleeping beast.
They would violently turn on him at the first sign of an 8-4 season if he shat heart-shaped gold nuggets and chucked them into the stands.
If being lovable was going to win over "that portion" of the fan base, he wouldn't have been on the hot seat one year removed from a MNC.

I wish he would have asked the caller to show up at TJ Ribs like Condon did a few years ago, and then beat Tim's arse down.

We could go 14-0 win another NC and a portion of our fanbase would still like to fire Miles

Having listened to Lesspeak for 7 seasons now, what I heard him say (after passing it through my Lestranslator) was, "It is gratifying to know that our fans are passionate and are interested in the team and pulling for it to succeed. However, decisions regarding player personnel, playing time, starting assignments and the like can't be dictated by the preferences or opinions of the fans, who don't have the same knowledge or experience that my staff and I have. Those decisions are, and as long as I am the Head Coach will be, made by my staff and, ultimately, myself, based on what our knowledge, experience and observations tell us is in the best interests of achieving our short-term and long-term goals for the program.

The LSU fanbase is largely comprised of reactionary idiots. He is right not to listen to them.
It's his nuts on the chopping block. Let the man make his own calls.

In regards to the first caller, do feel that Les Miles has the wrong attitude toward the fanbase?
in regards to the first caller (Tim), all i have to say about directly challenging a coaches decision on player selection is either......
1) not a well thought out decision
2) an embarrassment to his entire family
3) an inappropriate use of the right of free speech
4) funny as hell (the audacity of it)
5) all of the above
god bless him, but the boy just ain't all there. miles slammed the shite out of him and never raised his voice. ya gotta love Tiger fans. they are "our" team and we certainly take ownership.

I understand he is the coach, but don't tell the caller "I'll do what i want." People spend a lot of money supporting him and LSU for him to have this attitude.
he basically called Miles stupid on the air. He's lucky Miles is such a nice guy.....i probably wouldn't have been able to hold my tongue.....especially if i was 10-0 and #1 in the country.

HELL NO.
He told that guy what I and what most people would've said.
That guy wanted the world handed to him because he was a 25 yr season ticket holder. When Miles wouldn't answer him directly, he got his panties in a wad and was irritated at Miles.
Miles does not think he's above the program or any one individual. I've met him several times and he's always very welcoming and respectful.
Screw that 25 yr season ticket holder. TS is better off without that whining moron.

What pisses me off more is that the a-hole called back because of the way Miles answered his question.

an embarrassment to his entire family
TIM: [hanging up] "That arrogant SOB! Can you believe he just spoke to me that way? This stub helps his salary!"
TIM'S SON, TIMKEVIOUS: "Dad, it's ok..."
TIM: "No, it's not. I'm asking him to explain his decisions to us because I don't understand them. Football teams are like a family, and if you don't address these tensions, they could result in disaster!"
TIMKEVIOUS: "Like a butchered hobo?"
TIM: "What? No...like a loss! Families need to be open and you need to handle different personalities and be strong. I'm tired of asking Miles to explain himself. I'm TELLING him now, and this stub lets me do that."
TIMKEVIOUS: "Dad, I want to dress like a woman and murder hobos."
TIM: "If you find any stubs on them let me have them. Those are extra votes at Miles' annual performance review, held in the Superdome and Arena and Convention Center."

I know, right?? And then he calls Hanagriff and whines on his show about it.
How old was he when he got season tickets? He certainly hasn't matured much.

Choctaw you nailed it!! Listen to this guys question and you can tell he had an agenda. It was a direct insult to Les and FINALLY Les told him how it is! The rest of the pansies just need to get over it! (but they won't)

The coach has an undefeated season; a shot at the national title; the number one ranked team; and we as fans have the audacity to question his decisions as to starters... are you kidding me? It like questioning the heart surgeon who just saved your life because the surgery took 5 minutes longer than you thought it should and you didn't particularly like the color of his scrubs....
God help us if LSU loses a game this year.....
Do you really care who starts at left guard? Right tackle? Running back? Why is the QB decision so important to the fan base, when we are winning? I just don't get it!

I am surprised at how poorly he has handled the qb situation.
Really? Please provide insight.
quote:
A huge part of his job is to help unite the fan base
He has done his part. The Miles' coached teamed has defeated our toughest foe in their house, destroyed every other team we have faced, and put that team in the drivers seat for the Championship game. I submit to you that its a fan problem! The Coach has done his job. 10 and 0 and ranked #1, what more could a fan realistically want.
quote:
Regardless of what happens, 4 more games and the controversy is over.
1. Good assumption there - that we make the Conference Championship game.
2. Bad assumption here - Wait till next year, there will be something our fanbase will justify as controversial upon which certain members of the fanbase will fixate and spew endless amounts stupidity. Happens every year.
