The last 3 times LSU started 14-1, they made the Final Four:

1986
1981
1953

This team has NO WHERE close to the talent of the 81 and 86 team. That said, the rest of college basketball is way off from then as well. Basketball is nowhere near what it used to be when teams had continuity, but it is all relative.

Dude I don’t know why you have such a hard on for Wade and don’t care. But all your hate has no business here. The poster made no inferences about talent comparisons between today and those teams from yesteryear. He simply stated a fact and your Brown adoration lights go off. I knew a number of players from both the 81 and 86 teams. Some of them quite well. I can assure you none of them feel the negativity towards this team or coach that you keep spouting. You’re obviously no LSU fan.

dude I have no hate at all for Wade. I hope he has an incredible career at LSU. He has the opportunity to do something special. All I said was this team is nowhere near as talented as 81 or 86, in reference to those teams making final 4 compared to this team. That's not knocking Wade at all. Comical that you say I'm no LSU fan. Been diehard over 40 years....so Dude...you do you, and I'll continue to call it like I see it.

Nobody said anything about talent level so what’s your point? You keep backtracking in all these thread after you take shots for no reason pretending like you don’t have some axe to grind when it’s obvious you do.

In reference to those teams making the final 4. They were extremely talented teams and a final four was highly within reason. This team is not on that same level imo, so a final four would be much much more difficult, imo. I certainly hope they make it. Sorry I hurt some of your feelings. Reid will have to develop bigtime, and Williams....then who knows. I have zero axe to grind, that's the truth. I just think this team is soft down low, and lacks a legit shooter. That's jmo. Doesn't mean I'm not a huge LSU fan, or even Wade fan ftm.

Nice post, but what happened 50 years ago is irrelevant.

We are 1 elite scorer away from a final 4 team!

You’re not making any sense. The 1990 LSU team had a lot more talent than the 06 team but who made it further? Wade’s last 3 teams have had a lot more talent than Loyola Chicago but which made the final 4? Stop projecting, the only person who’s feelings are hurt is you which is why you keep lashing out and dismissing this team. Apparently you don’t like that they threaten the success you deem is only reserved for teams you prefer from the past.

LSU "basketball" fans are 90% clueless and really tick me off.

Our team is VERY young, VERY talented, well coached, ranked in the top 10, improving game to game, play with heart and hustle every play in a fantastic league.

We have as good a chance as any team in the country to make the final 4

Yea we’re so soft down low we just out played the top rebounding team in the country even though we were smaller.

Also scored 79 on one of the top defensive teams in the country. Have to be soft if you manage that.

If you can't see that we are not physical down low, then I'm not wasting any more time with you. Have a good one.

That 1986 team got ripped off big time. They should have won the tournament that year.

So that lack of a physical presence down low doesn't concern you? The lack of outside shooting? We are very athletic, and talented, and can get after teams in transition that we have more talent than. Auburn is a bad matchup for us, but then they are likely a bad matchup for most good teams with the best player in college, and the big guy down low.

I've been going to LSU basketball games since the 70's, was there for Georgetown, was there for UNLV.....hard to be a bigger LSU basketball fan than me. You know what "ticks" me off? LSU fans that are blind, and cannot stand any critical analysis. I always love the VERY YOUNG statement. Newsflash, that is college basketball these days...It's not like good players stay around and play together 3 years. We are talented, but we are indeed weak down low, and can have extended droughts from outside against athletic teams. I understand though, the young guys know so much more, and no one is allowed to objectively critique this team.

The ‘86 team was easily my favorite team to ever watch, but they weren’t the most talented. The ‘81 team, though, that was a talented team.

Yep. '81 was more talented.
