This was in the same vain that I was thinking. Fickell and Napier need another level of proving ground.

Fickell:
2011 @ OSU 6-7
2017 @ Cin 4-8
2018 11-2
2019 11-3
2020 8-0

Campbell:
2012-2015 @ Toledo 34-15. 9 wins in 3 of 4 years.
2016-2020 @ ISU 34-27. 8 wins in 3 of 5 years.

You could argue that Campbell has more headcoaching experience and is in a tougher conference but he seems to be "good" but not "great". Just an opinion.

if he has cause he can. if he doesn't he is firing a guy that went 15-0 a year ago and still gets his buyout

I can get behind everything you said here, and I too would put Campbell above the other names you listed. I would PJ Fleck up there with Campbell.

PJ Fleck >>>>>>>>>>>> Matt Campbell

Better recruiter, younger, more energy, proven at multiple spots, taken his teams to higher levels.

If you are only looking at records, I'm with you.

Campbell is a great coach. He is at a basketball school, in the middle of nowhere and out-coaching all of his peers with far less talent.

Like I stated: Coach of the Year 4 of the last 6 seasons.. that's a great coach!

I was high on Fleck until this season. I live in Big 10 country now and my company has box seats at Iowa.

I have watched Fleck get out coached in back to back seasons by Kirk Ferentz.

I'm still high on him.. He needs another prove it season for me.

As far as energy, Matt Campbell is a volcano of energy man. Fleck is younger by 1 year. haha And ceiling.. Campbell is about to play in the conference championship in the middle of Covid. Ranked #7 while at a secondary school in his own state.

It makes sense that Woodward would want to mitigate most of his risk.

Impressive presentation. Nice work. Still some big “ifs” that have to happen but I get your point

To me, he obviously has done many things wrong to result in what has shown up on the field this year. I think his divorce really distracted him and I think he had an inflated self-assessment. He seems emotionally insecure based on his comments about the defense prior to the season and the completely uncalled for statement of "We don't have any kickers." His hires have been for the most part unmitigated disasters.

If he was involved in covering up any of the (alleged) sexual assault incidents he should be unceremoniously terminated. The downside of that would probably be some serious and lengthy sanctions against the program which may complete Orgeron's destruction of it.

[quote]Bad season[/quote

7-5 is a bad season for LSU football. A possible three win season is a horrific season.
