We've hung 41 points on our opponents in back to back weeks. The offense isn't the problem.

They don't want to admit they were wrong about Pelini.

bc some of understand that those 41 points in back to back weeks were like Hardin scoring a bunch of points in regular season but can't get it done in the playoffs. We failed every single 3rd down against Mizzou and couldn't punch it in 4x from the 1. The offense clearly has problems. And those were crappy defenses.

WHY CAN'T SOME OF YOU REALIZE THIS

By your own admission, and obviously through no fault of the current coaching staff, we have yet to face a defense that is worth a damn, i.e. we have a small sample size. How about we at least play the fourth game of the season before we dismiss them as failures?

Yes 3rd down conversions are an issue. One that is in need of addressing, not cleaning house. As for the goal line failure, that was horrible. Do realize though the play calling and execution on that drive leading up to the first and goal was spot on. They drove the field, saved a timeout, burned clock to bail out the defense and were in position to go ahead and leave Missouri with no time. We had scored earlier from the four by running the same two plays we ran on first and second down. On the last drive Shanahan got beat badly on both run plays or we score.

Hell, if York doesn't drive his previous attempt into the arse of the center, we have a chip shot FG for the win.

While I agree you cannot overlook going 0'for third-downs, 41 rushing yards, and inability to score from the one. While most of the issues are on defense don't forget we scored 17 off of turnovers.

Canada fooled a few folks with his guard eligible trick play, lineman shifts and other gimmicky crap.
You have to look beneath the surface.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH WHAT? We score 45 points on Missouri and can't win the game and you are concerned about our offense not our defense?

Don't know what game you watched but as I remember Missouri scored 48 points and had it not been for turnovers would probably have scored 70 points. You come here and worry about our offense?

The offense does have some issues. The playcalling to end the game was really bad. O doubt about that. However, if you go back and watch 3rd downs in the game, the calls weren’t the whole story. Execution was also a big issue.

We had 3rd down conversion passes past the sticks dropped at least twice. Emery dropped a screen that possibly gets converted. We had two screens that were the right calls vs the blitz that the D stopped a yard or two short at least once, maybe twice.

Bottom line- if the players do their jobs and catch the ball, we convert at least 3 or 4 and with execution like last year, we maybe hit 50%. While you can blame the staff for the drops, the players have to share in it, especially with how good they were in this phase of the game last year.

Also, while I didn’t like the team running the same run play twice on the goal line, how the hell is our O Line so poor that they can’t push a Mizzou front 7 missing guys back and get the score. We should have only run that play once, if at all, but that’s partially on the O Line, as well.

I think this needs to be E’s last season as OC, but he’s not the only issue. Better execution of simple assignments would have won the game.

Im reserving judgment for the offense. We have played trash teams. But yes, it has looked good other than third downs and rz. Which are actually kinda important.

Oh and run game is suspect

Of course it has problems. Callaway should be the PGC
Linehan is an old idiot
But did you really expect it to be a well oiled machine after all we lost last year with no spring?
The offense gets a B right now but the defense is an F
so of course people are going to talk more about the defense

Based on the fact that he is innovative (all his offenses have been stellar) and a really good QB coach(see Brennan's improvement)

quote:

Why?

Because he sucks at redzone and 3rd down play calls and shows zero creativity. Ask cowboys fans what their problems were with him and it's the same bs over here
