There have been talks in meetings about leaving the pmac for gymnastics and women's bball and building a new structure for mens basketball.
If true, this would just be dumb. Plus, and I can't say this with certainty as I have obviously not researched every college athletic facility in the country, I can't think of any other college/university that has a separate facility for their men and women to play in unless it is a situation where one program uses an off-campus facility not even owned by the school. And talk about about your equality/Title 9'ers coming out if you built a facility just for the men's team and left the women in an old facility.

I've posted about his multiple times now, but I eavesdropped on a conversation between Alleva & the head of BRAF last summer. The goal was to buy the waste treatment facility near the Water Campus on River Rd and build a new PMAC there. It would be funded kind of like how the Shaw Center is, part LSU-part city of BR. Their goal is to also bring concerts into the arena.
Not saying this isn't true, but I find this to be highly suspect and unlikely to happen.
One, it would seem odd that this type of conversation would be held with BRAF as this type of project doesn't exactly fit their portfolio causes/mission. Not saying they wouldn't play some role in it if it were to happen, but just do not see them as the drivers of such a project.
Two, this would put the facility nearly a mile off campus, which means fans would be coming there solely for the event and not have much access to do some of the regular enjoyable things on campus. You would also make it very inconvenient for students, unless you provided a great transportation system to and from campus for the event. Heck, we have trouble getting students to games when they are on campus. Imagine if they had to actually travel to get to them.
Three, this does not seem like something the city would want. While not used greatly for sporting events, the River Center, which is owned by the city, already has an arena that can be used for sports, as well as concerts and other large scale events. Why would the city and LSU want to add another one to the area that would have to compete with the River Center for business outside of just LSU basketball games.

However, Wade has mentioned a few times in past interviews, especially during the off-season, that there were discussions and promises made on things he wanted to see facility wise when he accepted the job to come here. The commonly known things were regarding expansion and a re-purposing of some of the space in the practice facility in order to add a weightlifting/training area for the team and coaches' offices. I think he also wants to see a remodel of the players' locker room and lounge area for recruiting purposes mostly.
This is about what I figured. Coaches care about the day-to-day development stuff, such as locker rooms, practice courts, training rooms, weight rooms, offices, etc., which affect recruiting.
As long as it's not a dump, I don't think coaches or players care much about the arena. It's actually where they spend the LEAST amount of time. And they aren’t using the restrooms, sitting in the seats, using the concession stand. A remodeled PMAC doesn't really help recruiting. The other stuff does, and much of that has been done already. More is to be done, of course, but that doesn't include tearing down a perfectly good building.

Dead on !! They will be beating the door down to get to Coach. Proven he knows how to recruit & build a team, now help him out and give him the facilities to compete.
It’s been a long time for round ball; don’t mess it up !

Well recruits use all those things on visits. However, idk how much that affects their decisions.

These things make perfect sense and I would imagine Alleva and TAF will find the means to do these things. However, it also makes sense to have a master plan to ensure that all the tangential items are also included.

Not in the public areas of the PMAC

For the record, I'm not disagreeing with you on this.
I mean, don't get me wrong, a new facility would be awesome; because, well, who doesn't like shiny and new.
But at the end of the day, it is possible to put a solid investment into the PMAC and make it nice and even more profitable from the stand point of adding premium seating options. Just b/c most of the people on here are not architects and can't understand how a remodel is possible, doesn't mean that it's not possible.
Plus, for me personally, I would hate to see the PMAC torn down. That is the place I first watched Shaq and Jackson and Blanton and others to become the huge LSU basketball fan I am today. That is also the place I attended Dale Brown's basketball camp, where I was a manager for the basketball team, where I received my degree from LSU, where I attended Boys' State and 4-H Short Course. The PMAC has been a lot to me in my life and I would never want to see it go away.

LSU and the TAF do not have the resources to do this. They all know it. I spoke to alleva in person. He knows all this. It will get done someday.

Hey Alleva give CWW more money and the upgrades to the PMAC and then give us an added bonus and resign!!

Come on. TAF is spending however much on that Alex Box training facility right now.. Now I love baseball just as much as the next guy. I understand you get a lot of ticket and concession revenue from baseball, not to mention suite sales and things like that. But basketball is a national money maker. We can win 10,000 baseball championships and while it looks great in Baton Rouge adding to the Intimidator sign, basketball money and marketing spreads a lot farther.
Right now, we have the 4th oldest arena in the SEC. Ole Miss, Auburn, Mizzou and South Carolina all have arenas built in the 2000's.
Put some of these smaller facilities on the back burner and plan for something new in the next 10 years. It's time to start thinking about it. Something to keep WW happy...
Putting bandaids on a 50 year old piece of shite isn't gonna do it.
