Mainieri is basically talking out his arse, hoping something will click.

Yeah those 500 wins he has is all pure luck, he’s never been in a situation like this before.

God you people are so fricking stupid

I think Gilbert will end up with a spot in the rotation. I don't think Hess will.
agreed. I think Hess ends up closing and Gilbert takes over going into SEC play. He has potential to be a rock solid Saturday guy imo

Didn't take long to throw someone under the bus this year.

Maneiri is a dick. It's kind of his thing.

I had a coach in high school that was the same way. Got the most out of me, but he was still a dick.

I'm willing to give him a shot and Gilbert as well for that matter but my gut tells me by year end neither will be starting pitchers. It will be someone else. Losing Walker was crushing

They might have played sports in a league that didn't give 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place trophies. Everyone just got a participation trophy.

Just cause he's an a-hole doesn't mean he's not a good coach.

He's a good coach and he's an a-hole. Nothing wrong with people pointing that out.

You may be right but you don’t give up on him as a starter after one weekend.

Gilbert was a better pitcher than Hess this weekend. Gilbert has proven more as a starter. Gilbert lost the Friday night gig nonetheless.

99.9% of the kids that come into the program were the best starting pitcher on their high school team. They threw 6, 7, 8 innings at least once every week. Sure, Hess looked more valuable as a reliever last year. That doesn't mean he doesn't have what it takes to be a Friday night guy in the SEC. The team needs an arm that teams fear on Friday nights so that they can ride him into the rest of the weekend. It will take him some time to adjust back to a starter's mentality. He went an entire freshman season in a different role. He will be just fine. And, Gilbert has the stuff to bury a team that's pressing after Hess shoved it down their throat on Friday night.

Doesn't make him any less of a dick. It's like some of you can't take the slightest criticism of Maneiri's tactics.

Being a dick isn't the only way to get results.

Encouraging words you want to hear from your coach.

Encouragement isn't always the right recipe.

He's issuing a challenge to Gilbert. No doubt about it.

I didn't mean it like that. I didn't say he was a shitty coach.

But, he knows starting pitching is a problem, all that shite he said is just him trying to ignite Hess and Gilbert.

Some of you assholes get so offended when it comes to Mainieri.

He’s a GREAT coach, and he’s not an a-hole. Manieri is a nice guy. Most of his ballplayers like him.
